we need to think of ways to actually reduce or eliminate school shootings specifically, not try to convince people to "accept" them. We need to push for Israeli-type school security because that has been proven to actually work.

School security seems to be gaining traction in some places. Others are adamant that they don't want what they see as a police-state feel to schools. I think they need to get over it because gun control won't help. But when will they see this? When all legal ownership of guns is gone?

I find it funny that people are so adamant that guns are the problem when we kill over 1200 people annually in traffic collisions and just "accept that" as the price you pay for the freedom to drive a car.

I agree but the rebuttal will be that driving is necessary for a large number of people, and they don't think that guns are necessary for a large number of people.

Isn't it interesting that those same people have no problem with the TSA and their 95% failure rate? Sure, they're unqualified and ineffective, but it shows the bad actors that airports and planes aren't soft targets.

I hope they finally do make schools more secure and I hope even more that whoever they have on site is more than a glorified mall cop affirmative action hire (TSA, I'm talkin' bout you). We've got thousands of returning vets that are more than qualified to do a job like this. Best sheepdogs in the world.

I believe that we, gun owners, could do a lot of good for our cause if we would not have such a absolute attitude. I do not believe that every gun control concept is the first start of taking my guns away. Some things we cry about make no sense to me. Take for instance a restriction on huge sized magazines. Or the gun show exemption. Registering to buy a gun. I could care less if these were enacted because I don't buy into the concept that it "is just the first step...". I believe that many of the gun control people look at us as fanatics because of this. I believe that on certain concepts like those I mentioned, that if we said, "yeah, that is reasonable" but "taking my guns away is not reasonable" would make us seem less like fanatics and they would take our side of the story more seriously. Ok, now I expect to be chastised by most of you.

Are there anti gun people who think the way they do for "safety reasons"...yes
Are there anti gun people who think the way they do for control reasons...yes again.
I'd venture to say that for as many pro gun people and all the varied reasons as to why they think the way they do....there is at least as many , if not more anti gun people and reasons...
Granted I also think that many folks who are anti gun for truly safety reasons are easily used by those who favor control reasons....

Life itself is dangerous , you can not 100% protect yourself from all forms of harm.
Our freedoms cut both ways...if used responsibly , Freedom to own Arms , act , think , worship , love , work , etc...can bring much enrichment to your life....failure to do so , can bring much sorrow.

Like many things the gun can be seen as both positive and negative....Kinda like Kool-Aid.
On 18 November 1978 , over 900 folks received cyanide laced Kool-Aid and died...Should we ban Kool-aid because it was the method of delivering the poison...?
Or how 'bout religion , because that was a method of control used by Jones...?
Maybe free speech , should go away , so no one can ever sway folks like that again..?

Many folks enjoy Kool-Aid , religion and free speech...and do not harm themselves or others with their use of any of the listed items....Why should any of the above be restricted for the many , by the actions of a few...?

Some folks want to ban guns because they can be used for evil ends....Well Murder and Mass murder as well as their friends Harm and Mayhem...have been around a lot longer than any firearm and will continue to work ill deeds , even if all guns magically disappear.

If people need to judge they should judge the government with a high incidence of killing their own citizens, Ruby Ridge, Whiskey Rebellion, Waco & don't forget Socialist athiests. Governments have by far the worst record don't think it couldn't happen here

Israel has so many police and security forces running around and they're all armed: it's a police state. The US is an armed citizenry. No matter how the Left spins it, the ONLY alternative is A POLICE STATE. If you study history, you will know police states lead to fascism, tyranny, and the systemic erradication of Humanity and liberal thought: free cultural expression. So the Left and supporting political leaders in the DNC are actually working towards the polar opposite of what their constituents want. Groupthink and Mob Rule are consequences of democratic concept, and our founders we're very aware of this: and the US Constitution is the first and last line of defense. Article VI within, tells us anyone NOT on good standing with the Constitution, shall be Defunded, Disbarred, and Discharged from Office. It does not explain how to go about this in detail? So as far as I can tell existing members of government are responsible to ensure ALL levels of government abide by constitutional law. From POTUS to Locale. Since so many of our magnificent leadership is happy to continue to allow US citizens constitutional rights violated across the nation, it is time for those of us who are cognitive to the systemic tyranny, to step up and demand Article VI is adhered to. It's as simple as writing letters demanding Article VI is enforced across the nation. The best point of contacts are President Trump, Supreme Court, your governor if they are conservative, and your local leadership. Be polite, assertive, and don't use obscenities. I have drafted numerous letters and I include a quote of Article VI, so they can see I'm not talking out my backside. The way I see things going, we will need to fight to regain our freedoms with blood and violence, only if we do not taie action now and demand adherence and enforcement of Article VI. I don't want to see it come to violence, nor do I want my children and their children have to bleed for their freedoms if it's unnecessary. Too many of us are content with sitting on the couch, and letting the Left continue to attack the US Constitution via laws and regulations. If you can compose a letter and mail it, email, or call your local reps and ask for enforcement of Article VI you're not too old or too busy to help defend freedom for ALL. Don't ever give an inch to unconstitutionalisms ever, and never be apologetic, just be informed so you can communicate it clearly. The Supreme Court and many Inferior Courts are refusing to try unconstitutionalism because they are staffed with too many corrupt judges who are influenced by the Left and their funding streams. They all need to be defunded and disbarred unless they are willing to honor their oath and take tentative steps towards restoring constitutional law.
