Been on vacation the last couple weeks, and have had an opportunity to watch some of the Olympic shooting events (skeet and rapid fire pistol) on cable TV.

Particularly in the case of rapid fire pistol, I am wondering what sort of horrific bureacratic red tape the Olympic shooters had to go thru just to be able to get their guns and ammo into the country. All handguns are absolutely banned in the UK, except to police. Even British competitive shooters are forced to travel abroad in order to practice and compete. Even long guns are severely restricted. Having an entire gaggle of foreigners come flying into their country packing heat must have really gotten someones shorts in a knot!

They made the changes to the law to allow for those events to take place. Simple case of double standards.
