I have an older Remington 870 Wingmaster. Has a very patina'ed reciever and stock from use over the years but works like brand new. Still wings birds or clays all day. The barrel is 26" fixed choke, bead over a rail, 2 & 3/4 only. Marked "Skeet", very shiny bore and in much better shape than the reciever so I'm assuming isn't orginal. Forarm is classic "corn-cob" style. Serial number range: 562XXXV

Price: $Gone

Nice shotgun!

On the serial number the first three numbers are needed rather than the last three to get a serial number range to determine a date of manufacture. The V simply denotes 12ga. Might edit your post to put the first three numbers in and "X" out the last three.

On the breach end of the barrel (around where the choke marking is, but further back towards the receiver) there should be a few letters stamped in the barrel; these letters indicate the month/year the barrel was manufactured. Check <broken link removed> .

Also, a buyer might be interested to know if there is any pitting inside the bore as well as any cracking or splitting in the wood or if the wood has bulged at all over the years. Best of luck with the sale; if you were south of the Columbia I'd want to see it.
