"A suicidal person shot a Hillsboro police officer in the shoulder after the suspect's therapist asked police to conduct a welfare check, authorities say."

and WHY are people like this on welfare?!?!?
this is what STATE mental health facilities are for. Id RATHER be paying for people to work and take care of persons' like in the report, OFF the streets, than paying them WELFARE to sit on their *** and shoot good officers.

My wife works in downtown Hillsboro in the county offices right across from the courthouse. She said it was a zoo just as she was getting out of work. She said police officers were pouring out of the courthouse with weapons drawn and she had never seen so many Hillsboro police and Sheriff's cars. She had to take an alternate route home.

Ummm, I think you misunderstand something here buddy. A WELFARE check has nothing to do with someone receiving welfare payments. It is a check to see if the person is, for lack of a better word, OK. Like if you see your neighbor every day and then don't see them for a week and know they aren't out of town and you call the police to have them go by and check the house to see if they are OK

They said there was some kind of explosion, but I didn't see anything about grenades, at least not from what I have read so far. Possible some kind of homemade device.

What CougarFan said. Reminds me of Rosanne Rosannadanna from Saturday Night Live many years ago: "Never mind."

Pot farm, ammo, explosive devices oh my, I could throw a rock at the forensics van, it was very close to my home, made going to bed ****, forensics vehicles are still their this morning, something I never saw before was a police escorted ambulance, I wish I could have that treatment, if I ever get shot.

He's a veteran, another "delayed casualty." So terrible, the way they're discarded if/when they make it home.

The story says there were two grenades found in the house, but did not say if the explosions were due to flash-bangs used by LEO's.

He's shot in the leg, so we'll get to hear his story eventually.
