My response to the last Op Ed:

Ceasefire and its companion groups are waging a disinformation campaign about SB978. Bloomberg's Everytown USA has contributed over $2M of Bloomberg's out of state money to the supporters of this bill in the Oregon legislature over the last two years, $750,000 of it going to Governor Brown. Where would you expect their loyalties to lie?

These groups have reached deep down into the trash bin to find sensational topics to include in this bill. Ghost guns? Really? Where is the rash of crimes using these printable plastic guns which use easily detectable METAL cartridges and bullets, and that tend to blow up every few shots? And somehow, ordinary legal gun owners are responsible for crimes committed with their stolen guns. Should car owners be held responsible for the subsequent actions of thieves who steal their vehicles? And even if a gun is locked up this bill provides for strict liability for the owner for two years for any criminal acts committed after it is stolen. The storage requirements in this bill have already been declared unconstitutional in Heller v. DC.

"On June 26, 2008, the Supreme Court affirmed by a vote of 5 to 4 the Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit in Heller v. District of Columbia.[4][5] The Supreme Court struck down provisions of the Firearms Control Regulations Act of 1975 as unconstitutional, determined that handguns are "arms" for the purposes of the Second Amendment, found that the Regulations Act was an unconstitutional ban, and struck down the portion of the Regulations Act that requires all firearms including rifles and shotguns be kept "unloaded and disassembled or bound by a trigger lock".

And where is the rash of shootings and accidental discharges in public buildings by CHL holders carrying a concealed weapon? CHL holders as a group are 6 times less likely to commit a crime than police officers as a group. Why punish CHL holders and require them to consult an attorney, a surveyor, and a title company in order to determine where they can legally carry?

Common sense? There is none in this bill.

Actually, SB978 was indeed the focus of the March 23rd capitol rally that drew almost 5000 people according to OSP estimates. They came from all over the state at their own expense to protest a bad bill that will accomplish nothing except to harass ordinary everyday people who happen to own guns.

Quote from "News article is inflammatory":
"....Beasley refers to "opponents," but all citizen commentary comes from just one person, a representative from Oregon Firearms Federation, which is self-described as "no compromise" in its opposition to gun safety."

Is OFF self described as "no compromise" in its opposition go gun safety? I doubt it. Typical biased article by antis. Probably deserves a libel lawsuit against the author.

Let them pass garbage and call it law. It is our duty to disobey unconstitutional laws and the Founding Fathers would have hung these bastards years ago.

Note to all the anti-gun shills that peep around here: F you.
