Wouldn't be the first scope to be off to the side, if that were the case. The M1D sniper had the scope to the side for the clips. The PSO/POSP/LPS4/etc are also set to the side to allow use of iron sights.

The British WW2 sniping rifle - the No4[T], had an offset scope, so did the Mosin-Nagant, so do the Swiss rifles, too. And most of the genuine military scoped rifles of the USA and the Commonwealth/Empire allies of WW1 have rifles with offset sights.

No idea about the British rifle and the Swiss, good to know.

The Mosin Nagant PU scope is SUPPOSED to be centered, but not all were and it wasn't odd to see one that was off-center a bit. The PE sniper had the scope on the receiver in front of the action, so those were centered unless drunk Ivan missed a bit.
