Found something in the spam mail, but it's something right? It seems like his target audience are firearm owners who will side with his agenda because his proposals won't affect them very much, if not at all.

Obama: Gun-Control Advocates Have to Listen More - ABC News
President Barack Obama says gun-control advocates have to do a little more listening than they do sometimes in the debate over firearms in America.

In an interview with The New Republic, Obama says he has "a profound respect" for the tradition of hunting that dates back for generations.

"And I think those who dismiss that out of hand make a big mistake. Part of being able to move this forward is understanding the reality of guns in urban areas are very different from the realities of guns in rural areas," he says.

Obama has called for a ban on military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines and is pushing other policies following the mass shooting last month at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn. In response, gun-rights advocates have accused Obama and others of ignoring the Second Amendment rights of Americans.

The president says it's understandable that people are protective of their family traditions when it comes to hunting.

"So it's trying to bridge those gaps that I think is going to be part of the biggest task over the next several months. And that means that advocates of gun control have to do a little more listening than they do sometimes," he says.

Has Obama himself ever fired a gun?

"Yes," the president says, "in fact, up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time."

His daughters don't shoot skeet at the presidential retreat in Maryland, he adds, "but oftentimes guests of mine go up there."

The interview appears in the Feb. 11 issue of The New Republic.

The Second Amendment is not about hunting, rural people, or generational ownership.
If no one in your family, as far back as you can research, never owned a gun, it doesn't change the "Right to own", hunting is a red herring, and skeet shooting is for fun, not defending family from "enemies both internal and external.
The Obamination is trying to split the gun owners, he wants the "reasonable" one to see how wacked out die hard gun owners are, agree with the proposed changes and have a photo op with the safe guns and owners. He is talking about skeet shotguns, you know, the approved 2 shot weapons.

United we stand, divided we fall.

1 final note, I went to Salem for the gun rally, for those who didn't go, why not? If you think the rights you have are not important enough to take a day and show your support, than we have already lost.
Salem February 8th, be there, the time is now, the person is you.

Well that's a nice warm fuzzy but As others have said it's not about hunting it's our last like of defense from oppression foreign and domestic

Obama like most of government are clueless about the constitution and they don't seem to mind violating it

This is yet another example of the Gun Control folks using “reasonable” exclusions for this round of the debate. We hear it time and time again, “Can’t we all agree that you don't need x or y for hunting, target shooting, etc.…?” They will position this argument as the traditional hunting approach (just like they did in the People’s Republik of CanweF#$%you). Once they get the public thinking in that direction it is easy to classify anything they don’t like as “not fit for hunting”.

Did anybody notice this same tactic in Cuomo’s ranting speech? “…You don’t need 30 bullets to kill a deer…”

This debate is not about guns it is about control. Period.

Also, we shouldn’t be talking about “gun violence” we should be talking about crimes perpetrated by people with no regard for law or human life. We, as 2A supporters, need to reframe the argument around how we STOP these people not how we prevent them from doing more damage once they get started.

Well atleast this pretty much proves they know they've lost their gun control push by using strictly emotions so they're moving on to more divisive ploys to accomplish their goals. They're now going after the low information voters that are pro gun, trying to "reason" with them. This thing is a long way from over. We need to make sure we keep email, writing letters and talking to our fellow gun owners, make sure they all realize that just because you may not be in to the "AW's", as soon as they get those, they will come after yours. BO knows darn well that the 2A has nothing to do with hunting but that no longer fits the script.

There seem to be some politicians that are trying to reframe violent behavior as the problem and not refer to "gun violence". Mark Mullet, WA State Senator, is one (surprisingly for many of you a Democrat and no I didn't vote for him). Part of a letter he responded with read, "...There are already many laws on the books related to gun control. I support enforcement of those laws already in existence. ". Dave Reichert, WA State Rep. to D.C., met with a friend of mine last week in Issaquah. He acknowledged his vote in 1994 supporting the AWB was not an effective step toward reducing violence. He reportedly said he was opposed to both an AWB and any law affecting magazine capacity. He wanted to see increased criminal gang activity prosecuted and perhaps something like adding court ordered mental health checks to the NICS data base.

We, as gun owners, are partly responsible for allowing the anti-gunners to frame the discussion. They coined the term "assault weapon". I try to always refer to a firearm like that as a "semiautomatic weapon built on an AR platform" and I frequently include the explanation that "AR" stand for "ArmaLite Rifle". I also try not to use "large magazine", but instead say a "magazine with a capacity of more then 10 rounds". Finally, there is no such thing as "Gun Violence". What exists is "Violence where a gun is used". I'm sure there are better phrases that can be suggested, but we must not continue to be reactive. We must look for proactive behavior that gets at least neutral if not positive acknowledgement. This should be our goal in the letters we write and the conversations we hold if we are to build a receptive public perception. Maybe one recent example was the Seattle "gun buyback" (again anti-gunners created a negative phrase). The news reports I saw and read all gave at least neutral and sometimes slightly positive report of the pro-gun people paying actual cash. Our people weren't portrayed as extremist by the media and it was noted their purchases were legal (only the Seattle Mayor whined about the legality of such purchases).

Don't think for a minute that Obama and his minions don't understand the US Constitution. They know exactly what they are doing. They will chip away at our freedoms little by little. We will sit by and do nothing as the little things don't really effect us that much. Then one day they will spring the trap and we will all be effected. Once again we will here "How did that happen". Never forget compromise means agreeing with the left.

A gun ban bill has been proposed, so why is it not being voted on in the senate now? Why give obama time to twist arms and buy off senators votes? Seems that no one learned from the obamacare debacle.

I'm listening. I'm not buying what he's selling. I still haven't heard much that actually would actually result in less people getting shot by someone else.

The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened.

I graduated from gunsmithing school in 1982. Since then I have been hunting exactly once. Does that make any scoped bolt action center fire I may or may not own a sniper rifle?

Saying "...at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time" before spouting off ignorance about guns is no different from me saying, "Many of my best friends are black" before spouting off ignorance about black people.
