I've heard a few estimates on this. I think all of them have had over 250,000,000 privately held firearms or or very near 1 gun per person in this country. The US has the highest number of privately owned firearms per capita and the highest total number of privately owned firearms by very wide margins. Using minimal estimates, the US has roughly half the privately owned guns in the world.

Actually more like 320 million but it's hella of a lot. What will be needed is pairs of stones even more than guns. We've had guns for generations while our rights have vanished.. few shots fired

just as he has slipped some funding for healthcare in a piece of 1000page legislation that he delivered in the last hours before the vote...

If you feel that way why don’t you just ignore all those laws and if anyone tries to stop you shoot them. Problem solved. Unless you're too much of a coward to practice what you preach.

Akula, I thing your not seeing the big picture. What would you do if your rights were taken away from you? All your rights. No freedom of speech, no right to bear arms, ect, ect.

Now before you answer that question, you have to look at other countries. When you have no rights the country you live in is now a communist country. Judging be history of communist countries it flat out doesnt work.

Im guessing you work in a pretty nice place, travel on a pretty popular and nice area... not all of us live in awesome place, or travel down very nice neighborhoods... some of us pass through parts of town and have to transport money.

So only buying 1 gun a month is going to stop me from killing someone???? I dont think its me they need to worry about. I believe its the criminals.. and they will steel any gun when they need it. no back ground checks, nor waiting peroid from them, you already did that for them.

A guy at work made a really point the other day about Obama and his vacations.

I admit to voting for Obama - I am tired fo the republicans as whole - i am tired of what Bush and Cheney did to this country - stepping on our first admendment ( illegal wiretapping ) confining people to prison with charging them with a crime which is against our country's laws, taking this great country of ours two war under false pretenses because we did not like a foreign leader, yet we let Saudi Arabia get away with attcaking our country - you do realize that the majority of the people that attacked us on 9/11 were Saudi Arabian citizens. Dont tell me that Bush did not know that there were no weapons of mass destruction - it is his job to get the facts before he commits the sons and daughters of this country to speculation -if he did not know this information then he acted completely irresponsible and should have been impeached for that fact alone. We also have had the privledge of record unemployment and overall a slow degradation of the standard of living in this country thanks to GW. It has continued its down slide under Obama but it started under GW. To me the Bush, Wolfowitz, Cheney and Rumsfield are poor examples of individuals - they did what they wanted and got away with it without having to answer to the American people for thier mistakes.
Bush even had the balls to condemn Kerry - kerry was in Vietnam and was being shot at while GW was doing everything to get out of doing his military time back in the states. Wether you like kerry or not is not important - what is important to me is that Kerry was over there putting his life on the line and yet we allowed a serviceman to be dishonoered for the benfit of ex drunkard born again chrsitain that did everything he could do to shirk his responsibilities.

How many of you use the VA or Medicare - if you dont like Government ran medical programs then quit using them other wise I dont think there is anything to complain about. The Military took care of me for 13 + years of my life and the medical treatment was fine. I am diebetic it is nice to know that I cant be refused treatemnt on previous conditions when I change jobs. I hav worked since I was 14 and plan to be a contributor to society till I die. All I ask is that I can get insurance and I will pay for it , it is also nice to know that if I become unemployed I can get fixed if something happens so that I can contribute instead of take away from society.

Yes I voted for Obama, I could not take the chance that Sara Palin ( the quitter ) could possibly become president - but i do hope she runs next time under the republican ticket - if thats the best that the republicans can do then they deserve another Obama. The second amendment is only one of the dearest of rights I have - I wont allow one of those rights to get trampled on for the benefits of the others. I have served my country - I have the right to state my beleifs and I have answered why some of us white gun owners voted for Obama. I would do it again based on the information I knew at the time.
