I swear i just saw some hoodlums walking down fourth plain here in vancouver with mint mosin nagants....so maybe the grand imam hussain obama is on to something.....lol

Plus... this sort of thing has been par for the course for pretty much every presidential administration in the last 30 or even 40 years. Were they all socialists too?

Socialist wouldn't be the word, but I would certainly say that most have been progressive since Reagan. Republican and Democrat have just been flipsides of the same coin for a long time. I think it is time to change that myself.

If that is the case, I'll take the 10% socialist side of the coin over the 90% socialist side ANY day. :s0054:

I don't see how blocking the sale of historical rifles in any way would reduce illicit use of firearms. No homie homie is going to pack a 10lb full length thunderstick under his grossly over-puffed coat.

So much for me ever getting a Garand at a decent price. Funny, we can get a license for the collection of historically significant firearms, but then when a batch of highly desirable ones become available... the people who would be chomping at the bit for one get blocked. LAME.

I don't agree with gun control, licensing or whatever, though I still jump through the hoops as I believe in abiding by the laws of my state and country. We have the right to own these tools. Period. I don't see how the illicit purposes argument can stand. I just don't see the grounds for the argument.

Shoot, the things can't even use standard 30-06 ammo... you have to download them or use M2 ball.

To all the people that say Obama has not banned any guns, taken any of our gun rights away nor is going to ban any guns he did that. Undeniable proof and when you say that he has not infringed on rights expect me to throw this in your face Obama bots!

Obama Administration Reverses Course, Forbids Sale of 850,000 Antique Rifles

There it is! the first of many infringement on our gun rights from Obama over the next 2 to 6 years.

I predict none of our resident Obama defenders/deflectors will touch this subject!

Bush admin refused import of these guns too.

Not for the same reasons given tho. Some belong to the US already.
IF anyone here wants to know the whole story, check out www.thecmp.org/forums.

Could you provides something more specific than the base of a forum? Maybe a news article or something? I did a quick search over there and couldn't find what you are referencing.

Yeah, the thug-for-life crowd is big into full length rifles.

Don't forget about all of the seniors that will be running rampant now that they have re-armed themselves:

I saw Gran Torino !! those seniors are dangerous!

From the CMP site

"The Korean Government knows exaclty why the deal was not approved.

The Koreans cannot prove that they ever paid for all of those M1's with their own money.

In the absence of such proof, the U.S. Government takes the position that the material was given to the Korea and therefore the U.S. Government is not going to allow them to sell the rifles and keep the money.

MAP grants are not "loans." The Koreans own the rifles - Lock stock and barrel. They can keep them until the end of time if they wish and your congressman cannot compel them to return them to the US. The only problem is when the Koreans decide they don't want to keep them anymore. They can either sell them and give the money, less packing costs, directly to the US government or they can return the rifles and bill the U.S. Government for the packing cost. This is unlikely to happen as the Koreans know these things are worth $500 - $1000 each on the US retail market and they want the money in their pocket, not the CMP's. "

Not saying the Obama reasons aren't flawed.

Clinton and Bush 1 stopped imports of semi's too. Some place the
blame all the way back to 1968 and pressure from Winchester.

So it seems the Korean gov wants to make a quick buck, and the US doesn't want them to. Fine. But why is the US gov representing this situation as a risk to public safety? Politics - sure! But in the end, their logic creates a weaker point from which to stand on. Makes little sense to give the opposite side reason to go to the polls just before an election. Even simple logic seems to be a casualty in the White House/Congress.

Bush I banned restricted/banned more guns that are of the type that you likely care about than Obama. But of course that's why he lost in '92 because you all protested and voted for Clinton, right?

Oh yeah, and Barrett just recently announced they're no longer going to sell the M107 to civilians. We should boycott Barrett for taking away our right to own the milspec version of their rifle! Yeah! Who's with me?

Nonetheless, regardless of these ratings, Obama is being true to who he is. He has not changed his view of guns and the 2A since he has become President.
His documented record as an anti gun was well established prior to becoming POTUS, and in no way has he had some sort of epiphany since being sworn in.
He's a hard core Elite Socialist who has no understanding of the country in which he has sworn to defend. He rules from a vacuum based on a very narrow paradigm of who the U.S. citizen is based on his life in the very corrupt Chicago political environment.

Out of the thousands of decisions that our government makes on a daily basis, do you really think that Obama has input on every one of them? These decisions are made by government workers who probably have been there since before Obama was elected. I don't agree with the President's views on gun control (or any other anti-gunners), but give the man a break. The President of the United States has a lot more important problems to worry about!:s0131:
