Nice looking muzzleloader in photo. What is it?
It's a 36cal. cap & ball from the mid 1830's. The lock is english the name HENRY is stamped on the top of the barrel, probably the name of the gentleman it was made for. The patch box butt plate, bolster and trigger guard are mexican silver; the stock is curley maple. I got this rifle from a friend, it had been part of a family collection since the turn of the century, the family was from New Mexico. It is still a shooter. Thanks for showing some interest....
