I gave a class today on gun safety to a few people who requested it. Why? Because they didn't know the first thing about guns, but they were planning to go buy some. One was an ER nurse who planned to buy herself a CCW, get trained, and get a concealed handgun license for it. She said she wanted to become familiar with handguns because currently they made her nervous. She actually gasped when I pulled out a .357 Mag S&W revolver, but she hung in there and before long I had her loading and unloading it, and dry firing it. I went through the whole spectrum of possible firearm designs with them. They now know how to safely handle, load, and unload just about any firearm they might come across. They are all now convinced too, that a firearm is always "loaded". This whole gun control thing is making us a whole bunch of new friends who aren't being very vocal about it. People have had to get off the fence and I think a majority of them are coming down on our side.
