Ive got family that have been a part of the NRA for 60+ years and retain a great portion of their literature they were sent. Haven't came across anything that even remotely pertains to restrictions they support other than hunting land conservation.
The NRA may not have been a loud voice in the fight pre 1980s, as they should have been.. But we can all agree no matter how powerful the lobby group, its the folks in the house and senate that push the bills.

Their focus pre 1980's was "the sportsman" and they didn't believe that suppressors, sawed off shotguns, and machine guns had anything to do with the sportsman. With that mentality they helped create these pieces of rather invasive, "infringing" legislation. User "deen_ad" posted on the "#12" post confirming what I just said and he has 4249 posts... so... ya... if we are measuring creditability by number of posts... I mean to say that he has about 4X as many as you.

I asked a couple of teachers about this and they assured me they were not. However, they would be curious if you could come up with some actual curricula demonstrating otherwise. They also wondered how involved you are with Oregon State Standards of Education.

I have said, in this same thread even, that yes, we are better off today with the NRA of today. I just, personally, don't trust them enough yet. Instead of not acknowledging what the NRA has done in the past, I would rather see people learn from their mistakes...

But they had a sea-change 30 years ago and have become an absolute pit-bull for our rights since, with increasing ferocity and clout.

It's frankly not fair to compare the NRA of 1960 with the NRA of today. It's a radically different organization from what it used to be. I send money to SAF every year. But I'm a life-member of the NRA. And while I think LaPierre can be a real putz at times, he's done a lot of good for us.

If you're thinking about their initial stance on Heller, it was a reasonable call. If it had gone the other way (quite possible) it would have killed gun rights in this country for good. I'm really glad the NRA was wrong on that one. But it wasn't a "gun-control," stance. It was an assesment of potential harm vs good and a judgement call.

Fortunately Gura hit a home-run.

They are and have been. To even make any comment that they are not is ludicrous. Anyone with their eyes open can see the result in the sick society it has produced.
There is no pride in nation being taught, they teach blame. There is a constant fight against saying the pledge, against prayer or even prayers by students or any political speech at graduations. Zero tolerances against even paper or finger guns. They teach untruths about the second amendment and that guns are evil to the extreme. The bring Islam into the schools but wont allow any other religion.
They push socialist agendas, but not freedom or rights under the constitution unless they twist the meaning around a socialist, marxist agenda.
You keep pulling Alinskyisms by trying to transfer blame about everyone getting into the schools pta, school board and full well knowing that not everyone can.
We were heavily involved in all of that and the committees outgun anyone those that try to oppose their agenda. Not enough parents see past their own 3ft square.
To play your game, you prove they do not teach socialist marxist views in the majority of schools today ! A couple of friends that you know that you say it does not happen is not valid anything.
I have a cousin that is a school administrator that even states that is the agenda he is told to push if he wants any additional funding and it makes him sick. Can I prove that to you, no, not without costing him his job, so it is just heresay, so dont pull that 2nd hand crap.

I looked him up a couple of years ago and he was a lefty union organizer from my recollection, who had some influence on some people. You guys are acting as though he's the anti-christ reaching out through the grave to "Corrupt the Youth of Athens." I think you're projecting a lot more importance and fame onto this guy than he deserves.

And as for the "everyone is a socialist" bit, were you ranting and raving about Bush? Mister Spend to oblivion and more government is better himself? As to the teaching, thanks to carryover from Bush's "no child left behind" effort, each and every teacher must teach to the Oregon State Standards, which are in turn, a reflection of the National Standards. This applies to every grade. Anyone is welcome to wade through them and search for Marxist rhetoric, but none will be found.

And FWIW, how old are you guys that are still worried about Marxism and such? It's like a broken record. Even the Chinese, the most rabid Marxist dictatorship this side of Albania, have embraced the free market. The Communist specter, an idea that cost millions of lives has proven unworkable, is gone and only is alive in some folk's minds.

I am sure you will reconize some of these from the last 5 yrs. All used to over run the constitution and implement the progressive agenda. LIke it or not it does exist.

Just because you've never "heard" of Allinsky doesn't mean crap. He didn't "invent" these "rules", he merely codified them so even low-talent community organizers could work their way up...

As for "communism" being dead... That's just an ignorant stance right there. The MOFO's that ran the USSR, GRU, and KGB didn't just fall off the face of the earth, or have a 180* "mea culpa" turn around change of heart... (I used to do counter-Spetsnaz operations once upon a time) They just reinvented themselves and slapped a new label on themselves. They're called "environmentalists", and "progressives" that has DIRECT roots that can be documented in the communist party. (Gorbachev is/was HUGE into Greenpeace.)

It's far easier to get people to do what you want with honey as the bait than it is to use brute force and fear (at first).
