I listen to NPR whenever I'm in the car driving to /fro work. Where i'm at its either that or the same old music or Ranchero music. I would shove a pencil through one side and out the other if I had to listen to conservative talk radio.

I can listen to something and not let it mutate my brain.

There is an extreme anarchist/socialist type guy at work who insists on trying to impose his will upon the rest of us (go figure) by blasting NPR whenever he can.Especially when it's a firearm related show.
My radio is louder,so I crank up the Vicente Fernandez. Oddly enough,he is Hispanic, and hates it-I'm not Hispanic, and enjoy it.
I'll take the ranchero music over ANY talk show,or your typical "classic rock " station, any day.
About the only talk show I can listen to is Ground Zero..the callers amuse me to no end..And Art Bell's callers are even better!

Believe it or not (because it's ME I'm talking about) I can't hardly tolerate ANY op-ed show in any venue. It's always the same sheite, only the names have changed. It's ALL about ratings, which means they'll do ANYTHING to get you to keep tuning in for as long as possible... revenue.

I'm neither conservative, liberal/progressive, or even a libertarian... all those "labels" were hijacked by greedy power-hungry charlatans several decades ago, and I jumped off that hampster-wheel a long time ago.

I'm now a card carrying member of the "United States STFU Party". o_O

Pretty hard to beat the BBC World News on NPR.
I listen to quite a lot of their shows; Philosophy talk, Car Talk, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. The OPB coverage of the Malheur story was one of the most well balanced I've heard on the event. Yes, and BBC World Service is a must until I turn over to the classical station so I can get to sleep. I give money to NPR just as I give money to NWFA; If I find value in something I will support it. I don't give to political campaigns for the same reason.

I listen to NPR occasionally - Wait Wait Don't Tell Me is frickin' hilarious, A Prairie Home Companion is just good radio, and I enjoy listening to The Moth (where people tell stories of their life experiences). Occasionally I'll sit through an entire All Things Considered, and if I remember to tune in, America's Test Kitchen is also must-hear-radio for me, as I love to cook and always learn something new from them. BBC World News is probably the most fair, balanced, accurate look at the goings on around the world, and especially here in the US that we're going to get.

I listen to NPR on my commute, if I don'tlike the way they are covering something, I move the dial. They have some great programming, like Science Friday and Market Watch. I will say when they locally cover a 2A issue I have never heard a segment where they didn't have Kevin Starett on. The news caster s are always respectful with him, listen to his answer and provide intelligent feedback. They do tend to softball questions to more liberal issues, but I ecpect that. What I dont get is half bubblegum poorly informed 24 hour news cycle coverage, whos going for ratings over content. Does their news have a liberal bent? Yes some of it, but they arent pissing on my head telling me its raining. Also, the BBC for world news is the best. It's just the news, nothing more. Tell me whats going on and move on.

Many more gun-totin' NPR fans out there than expected! The ratio of listeners to non-listeners is also closer than I expected.

As for me:
BBC News to feed my news junkie habit and because (let's face it) anything said with a posh English accent sounds 10x smarter even if the speaker is in truth dumb as a rock.

Wait Wait Don't Tell Me because it's fun and really cracks me up.

Science Friday speaks to my inner nerd.

A Prarie Home Companion for Guy Noir adventures plus who can ever get enough Norwegian/Lutheran jokes? Not me!
"This has been a public service announcement from the Professional Association of English majors."

I listen to NPR whenever I want to get an idea of the latest propaganda techniques. They carry a consistently higher quality of propaganda than the other stations. Much more sophisticated than usual. The lies sound almost plausible.

I listen to NPR, drive a Prius, drink lattes, donate to ACLU, and, by the last count, have around 800 guns, split roughly down the middle between handguns and long guns.

Nice collection, so that brings up the Super Gun Owner....SHTF and folks start dying...just think of the weapons marauders will be looking for.... and trying to overwhelm or target the one or two guys defending a home and then successfully finding "the gun room with dozens of guns and 1,000s of rounds". Not a happy thought.

If I listened to radio at all, it would probably be all I listen to. I used to listen a lot: Morning Edition / Market Watch / All Things Considered / Thistle & Shamrock / Fresh Air / local bluegrass / Prairie Home Companion / Blues ...
It all started sounding the same. The news programs had their format which became so predictable. One day I found myself yelling at the casual PC remarks from the speaker, and their rhetorical question of "how could anyone think differently?"
I turned it all off, stopped reading the papers, stopped watching TV.
Much happier now with my head in the sand.
