Gun owners plan to attend Town Hall Seattle meet on urban violence

Puget Sound area gun rights activists have circled Monday, June 18 on their calendars and are planning to attend a meeting at Seattle’s Town Hall to address the city’s sharp spike in urban violence.

Let's get right down to it: We hear the term "gun violence" all the time. So, what IS it, really?
(feel free to forward the link to all your pals so they can weigh in, too.)

How do you define ‘gun violence?’

A crazed home-invader shot dead in North Bend after repeated warnings from the homeowner that he was armed; an ex-boyfriend killed by a Michigan woman as he was trying to strangle her; an image of Australian athletes in a United States gun shop holding shotguns and handguns for a photo; are these all examples of so-called “gun violence?”

Is it time to ratchet down on ‘cane violence?’

A Texas woman beats her neighbor with a cane, a Brooklyn man is robbed and beaten with a cane in front of a hospital, South Carolina police taser a nude octogenarian who attacked them with a “walking stick,” a California man dies after a fight involving his own metal cane, and in Seattle on Monday, they’re having a meeting on “gun violence.”

More people every year die from Assult chairs then rifles but they dont ban chairs. Same with cars and many other things but they leave them. Funny they only want to get rid of the things that we can defend ourselfs with not what does the most damage.

Gun violence= Exercise of poor discretion by a person that was in control of a gun, and that resulted in serious damage to a victim. really, "gun violence" is a often a misnomer that is equivalent to "car violence," but that involved a gun instead of a car, and which would make "vehicular manslaughter" turn into "gun-related manslaughter." It's because of a moral panic that it is gun violence and not gun violence. Only in cases like the Ford Pinto from 1978, or the Corvair from before that does the car come under a similar microscope.

Liberals like to blame the gun, but what about the discretion of the legal owner of the gun? 'leads me to believe that liberals are wacky and don't trust themselves with their own toys.

There are certain measures that can be taken to control gun violence, like prohibiting from buying a gun those that are documented to be unsafe with guns, or those who commit criminal offenses using a gun, but what is the issue is the discretion of the individual, and not the gun, per sé. If not, then there should be far fewer drivers on the road because cars would then cause a lot of crime.

The problem is that there is no such thing as "gun" violence, and the anti gun group knows that fact. They are taking a page out of AG Holder's book about "brain washing" people with respect to guns.

There is no way to address such a silly concept seriously.
