Join the #1 community for gun owners of the Northwest
We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
Silverhand, I received your response via email, but it seems that it didn't get recorded on the board, which has been weird for about a month now.
I have done more shooting with 44's than most - over 20k rounds in nearly 40 years, and they are not what many think they are. I have shot 2 deer broadside and both failed to drop and one took another kill shot to the head. Neither round went more than half way thru, making it unlikely for the 300 gr to do so lengthwise in a bear since the velocity would be much slower than a 240 gr bullet, tho the bigger bullets are used for bear loads.
Regardless of that news, these are supposed to be some of the best available for heavy loads. Personally and ballistically, I think dispersing the freight inside a target is better than full penetration where some of the shock value will be lost.
