i will make this short. Last year I got a horrible nose bleed. Everyday for 5 days. They burned it twice. Didn't work. They moved to the "rhino rocket". Compete hell. Well it's back. Anyone have this before. I'm up to 7 bleeds in 5 days.
Do I just keep my head back for 7 days and it heals? Doctors speak up!
Thanks!

I have problems with nose bleeds when the humidity changes (or when someone punches me in the nose), or I travel on a plane with the super dry air! I dread blowing my nose most days.

To prevent a bloody nose, I apply Neosporin (I understand that Vaseline will work as well)with a q tip in the morning, the extra bit of moisture really helps! The only time I feel comfortable blowing my nose is after my morning shower and then I gingerly blow my nose, unlike my wife who sounds like she is calling geese!

Should I get a bloody nose, I take a piece of wet paper towel roll it up into a cylinder about a 1/4' in diameter and 1.5" long. I place that paper towel between my upper lip and gun to lower the blood pressure going in to the capillaries in the nasal passages. Once it stops bleeding, I again place some Neosporin in both nostrils. I keep Neosporin my back pack that I carry every day, I won't say it a life save but it certainly helps.

My dad has been to the ER 3 times for bleeds. He's on a lot of meds and blood thinners and there have been times it took them HOURS to get it to stop. They usually stuff it full of gauze and then tape a thing to his face to hold it in place for a few days. I get them here and there too and have been burned once. But I can get them to stop fairly quickly.

Sleep with a humidifier on at night and use the neosporin/vasoline in the mornings.
Your probably in dry warm weather, in winter it can be worse.

Prevention is key.

Do a lot of coke as a youngster?

My older brother has had long history of nose bleeds that often required ER care. Finally went to specialist & got Dx after some odd vascular studies. He responded well to minor surgery to correct an abnormal circulatory bundle in his nose. From 'maybe once a month' for over 50 years, to 'maybe once a YEAR' the last 10 or so.

All his attempted home care packing-it with stuff theory was outdated, inadequate for his underlying condition and contributed to his recurring bleed.

Saline nasal spray is your friend.
Keeps it clean and moist.

I've had more nosebleeds and sinus infections than I can count.

I have developed allergies the last couple years and this year is bad. My sinuses get dry in the day time and I wake up with gluey goo in the morning. I have had a bunch of nosr bleeds from the nose drying out. Saline nasal spray has been helping as does using a Neti Pot. Neti Pot is a godsend when i get sinus infections or bad flu too.

funny side note on the Rhino Rocket (or Rapid Rhino as we call them RAPID RHINO Product Usage Instructions For Epistaxis Events )

Had a patient come in who had a bad nose bleed and wanted one of these done. He had it done before in the urgent care next door but hated the doctors there so wanted me to do it. I had not used it before and we did not even stock them

So I had someone run next door and steal one from urgent care (its ok, same company), then I watched a youtube video on how to use it.

So next time you see your doc and they do a procedure, they may have no idea what they are doing and just watched a youtube video right before your procedure :D But, it worked and I got his nosebleed stopped.

See an ENT (otolaryngology). There are several additional treatment options. Nasal packing, nasal tampons (yes), nasal balloons, all the way up to surgery to tie off the arteries or arterial embolization (using something like a heart catheter to clot off the artery in the nose that is bleeding). There is always more that can be done.

For me it's usually dry air. Saline spray can help sometimes. Mine are nothing compared to yours though. I hope that you get some relief soon!
Have you seen and ear/nose/throat specialist or just the regular doc? If not, ask your regular doc for a referral. Lol or go to Zoom care and and ask them for a referral.

They figured it out. Giant artery pushing out. They burned that baby up. Smoked like the campfire.

Glad to hear they were able to ID the offending artery and cauterize it OH5. Good thing it's nothing worse.

This time of year with dust, allergens and smoke is especially brutal on nostrils. CPAP users certainly know what I'm talking about, especially if you don't use the humidifier stage and simply blow dry air into your head all night. Severely dried out crunchy nostrils make it hard to differentiate between boogers and scabs, both of which drive me crazy. But a couple things help.

- Saline spray is cheap and plentiful.

- And neopsorin (any generic house brand like Kroger). The familiar clear ointment is okay, but I prefer the white antibiotic cream variety, which is more soothing with no post nasal burn. Relief within an hour, and healed in 1-2 days. Minimizes the annoyance of non-stop sneezing and clawing at/blowing out crusty, bloody snot rockets.
