To me, the 2A is not about carrying firearms. It is about the right and power to say NO. It is the power to reject that which we find intolerable. The firearm is just the tool which enables us to say NO loudly enough to be heard. It is the tool which forces others to appreciate the gravity of our position. As a people, I believe we need to relearn the importance of saying NO. We need to relearn how to say NO. Saying NO needs to be done with a clear head, sound thinking, and uncolored by emotion. We need to remember as citizens of a free Republic, we are deserving of the best and we demand the best. Shortchange us and be prepared to hear our NO. skicat (another forum)
The First Amendment guarantees the right of the people to say, "No." The Second Amendment protects the ability of the people to make that "No" stick. Without the ability to defend our rights, we'd have none.
