There is no amount of apologetics that can justify a signage law. The burden of proof will never be on the property owner/manager... I would compare this to a no trespassing sign, doesnt allow you to enter on the other side of the property. Shrugging it off makes things worse, if this law is rammed thru it needs to be immediately repealed continuously until it is. The very idea of limiting a right, on public property is a direct infringement of the right.

"Provides that prohibition of firearms in public buildings does not apply to person who possesses unloaded firearm in airport in locked container for transportation in accordance with federal law."

The above alleviates my concern for how people were going to fly with firearms.

This below concerns me as it could mean property outside a building?

"occupied or controlled by specified public bodies and real property owned by college or university."

Well, SB 554 just got way worse! The new proposed ammendments now repeal state preemption completely.

Requested by Representative CLEM
**PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO**
**A-ENGROSSED SENATE BILL 554**
On page 1 of the printed A-engrossed bill, line 2, after "166.370;" insert
"repealing ORS 166.170, 166.171, 166.172, 166.173, 166.174, 166.175 and
166.176;".

On page 9, after line 16, insert:
**"REPEAL OF STATE PREEMPTION STATUTES**
"SECTION 7. ORS 166.170, 166.171, 166.172, 166.173, 166.174, 166.175
and 166.176 are repealed.".
In line 20, delete "7" and insert "8".
In line 26, delete "8" and insert "9".

I think at this point our only hope is it gets so bad that even the Dems won't pass it.

Sounds like good reason to hit each and every legislator again with emails and phone calls, guess I know what tomorrow's going to look like for me, cauliflower ear from being on the phone...

CHL holders aren't the problem, stop punishing the law abiding and go after the criminals... Oh wait, they'd have to go after themselves...

Looks like U of O has a "no guns" policy, except "on duty law enforcement": https://police.uoregon.edu/personal-protection-devices-uo
And Oregon State says no if you're attending school, attending an event, etc. https://policy.oregonstate.edu/policy/firearms

HOW?

In the early '70s the University of WA was "no guns allowed" and still is. I got into all kinds of trouble for taking my own Winchester Model 52 .22 rifle to the UW range (Boat Street) for the rifle team. Almost got kicked out of school. The Team Advisor talked to the Board of Regents and it turned out OK.

You gotta watch those Olympic Shooting Team members. They could be a bunch of white supremacists hiding in plain sight!
