Coerced? Are they not paying him or his subordinates for their time? I haven't yet heard of this. He did seem a little out of place at the podium I guess. Is that medical examiner currently or has he ever served in a legal capacity as a ballistics expert, toolmark specialist, or otherwise in the field of criminal forensics outside of medicine? Until anyone can answer that, I'm going to stand by the presumption that he answered all of the questions that he legally could as a medical examiner without extra certification and training. I guess I don't understand what more you want. Do you need to do the autopsies yourselves before you'll be satisfied? You want to dig through the bodies and pull out the bullets yourselves before you could ever believe a statement by someone who receives a check from the Government. And I'm expecting comments about how I'VE been hoodwinked.

What you're seeing is the barrel. If you look very close you can see where the gas system ends on top and a faint outline of the barrel continuing. I assume something like a Benelli is supposed to lock the bolt open when empty, right? The bolt wasn't locking when the cop was cycling it because a Saiga must be manually locked. It also had a dragunov style stock, indicative of an AK type weapon.

I believe the State Police report to be correct, They had to sift through all the rumors along with the physical evidence available. They did not say what was used, but rather what was found to be with the perpetrator inside the facility.

I don't think it is remotely necessary for the public to know each step of the investigation until the investigation and possible charges have been made and the case is complete. I am sure the police understand that their investigation will be talked about for years to come, unless they document their documents.

In short I expect a solid investigation.

Until then what he USED is speculation on the public's part.

Here is something for all of you to chew on ,,,

I was home with the flu the day of the Sandy Hook shooting and as I was too miserable to sleep was on my lap top early that morning when the news started to break. I watched all of the live feeds as they occured and this is one that stood out like a sore thumb and strangely enough disappered completely . Very shortly before noon PST ttere was a brief clip of an officer wearing what is typically the Sherrifs Dept. green uniform holding what was an assult rifle stating that a weapon "similar" to the one he was holding had just been recovered from the trunk of the suspected shooters car. Myself like most of you am a shooting enthusiast and immeadiately recognized this to be another serious threat to future ownership of "Black Rifles". I made this video clip to be close to 3:00 pm there in Newtown when it was aired. This clip was never shown again. What was shown the following day was a birdseye view ( had to be from a helicopter ) in the dark showing an undistinguishable film of a weapon being retrieved from the trunk of a vehicle and one of the officers apparently clearing the action to insure it was empty. Really ? This is what they want you to assume is the actual recovery of the gun they say was responsible for all of the killings and he had the handguns just for what ,,, ballast ??? People you dont have to be a genious to figure there was close to a 2 hour MINIMUM difference between when the original clip stating the "Assult Rifle" was recovered and sundown let alone pitch black which takes a good 1/2 hour to occur. I will swear this to be true on my fathers ashes til the day I die. I also saw the footage live of the police doing the rundown of the " Man in the Camo Pants" in the small grove of hardwood trees behind the school. Who the Hell was this guy ??? He was an adult . Pretty damn sure that would have been very unappropriate attire for someone on the school staff but yet that scene was seriously downplayed in the reporting that followed and for an old fool like me to have noticed without having to be told by the media that there was a SERIOUS shortage of medical personnel on site for a catastrophe of this magnatude stood out like a sore thumb. There should have been medical personnel all over that place coming in and out and that wasnt happening. As for that DUFUS of a Medical Examiner REALLY ??? Watch that Video of his statements to the press and count how many times he pauses and sez "UH" ,,, Any invesigator will tell you this is typically one of the first and foremost signs that someone is either lying to you or plain hiding something. To tell the truth does not require such deep thought. When he stated to the press he could not specifically tell what actual gun was used he said he could not say because that typically gets him in trouble with the police and that the police would have to answer that question, how would you interpret that ? He has so many shootings there in Newtown that he is well versed in how to handle the publicity aspect of these situations or was he already coerced by the Law Enforcement officials as to what to say or be in trouble ? Full blown conspiracy ??? Maybe,,, Some conspiracy at least ? You DAMN WELL BETTER BELIEVE IT !!!

HahnsXD, good call. I just rewatched the zoomed in slow motion video (below) and you are totally right. You can see the stock handguard end and the barrel continue. In addition right at the beginning when he first picks it up you can see the large 10 round mag sticking out of the bottom in just a second or two of the flashlight from behind him.

I too saw a daytime clip showing an AR-15 style rifle in the back of a car. I don't know what channel it was on or who was reporting it, but I do remember them specifically saying that they found it inside the car. I also saw/heard someone saying that they found two handguns with the shooter, and that was it. Like I said, I don't remember who it was or what channel it was on, but I definitely saw/heard it. It wasn't until later on that all of the "Assault Rifle" news started pouring out.

With all of the political pressure, who knows if we'll ever get an honest report!!!

The type of weapon used really doesn't matter at this point. They regular gun grabbers are eventually going to go for everything. I think its a waste to argue amongst ourselves about the type anymore.

I heard a report on the radio a couple days ago. It was a press release directly from the investigating agency (Sandy Hook PD). It claimed the weapons actually used/carried inside the school were a AR15, and two pistols, a Glock and I believe a Sig but I dont recall the second pistol type for sure.
That puts that issue to rest for me.

I own a Bushmaster. That was no Bushmaster in the trunk of that car. A Bushmaster does not have a charging handle on the side of the receiver. It has a charging handle BEHIND the receiver. I don't know what it was, but it was no Bushmaster.

Whether the AR was actually used in the crime or simply carried is tremendously important. The whole "assault weapons" ban is based on the idea that they create this kind of wholesale destruction, and that they are somehow different from "hunting" rifles in significant ways. Without the AR being actually USED in this case their argument falls apart. Whether it was used or not, their argument falls apart when it's pointed out that there's no functional difference between dad's kindly hunting rifle and those scary looking "assault weapons".
