would this work on a 338 win mag for shots 100 to 400 yards?

You bet it would. Keep in mind this has finger adjustments. If you can figure out your velocity you can get online ballistic info to figure your adjustments. Simple turn of the knob.

Not sure what bullet your shooting out of your 338. You wont see more than a 6"-10" drop @ 400yds. You could dial it or simply "hold over" depending on what your shooting at.
