I will vote third party.... spoiler?... no, I don't buy into that line of BS.
So long as people believe the idea that their vote is essentially owned by the two dominant political parties - a third party will never be viable. The only way we are going to change the system is by standing up and saying ENOUGH!

Bull Moose party redux

Why do people say that Ron Paul has no chance of winning? The more you vote for him, the better chance he has to win!

People say I have drank the perverbial liberal cool aid because I'm against Open Carry in the community. Yet here I read that we shouldn't vote for who we want to be in office....for who we feel is the right choice because he has no chance of winning? If you honestly think that voting for who you think is best to be in office is a wasted vote then I recommend you throw away your ballot IMMEDIATELY. I, personally, don't think he will win either. But you know what, we actually need a change...what better way than voting for who we believe in? Don't give up and just go along with the norm. This is what the system wants you to do! Maybe Ron Paul won't win this time...but we defenitely need a "change". Vote for who you want in office...even if you have to write them in! Why? Because the next time they might actually have a better chance of winning!

When have you ever heard of an independant like Ron Paul getting so close to winning the Iowa Caucus? It's been a WHILE. Keep up the support!

Some of you act like there is a difference between Romney and Obama. The reason that it is going to come down to Romney vs Obama is because they are both puppets and they will both do what is told by the ones who really run the show. I will vote for Dr Paul or not vote at all, and to the ones who say by doing so is the same as voting for Obama, then I guess the one who believes in socialized medicine and strict gun control will lose and Obama will win.

Ditto on Ron Paul for me. I may not entirely agree with his foreign policy, but really admire his stance on domestic issues. My two cents (and probably worth less).

I will not hold my nose and vote for Romney. I think that Obama is the best thing to happen to conservitaves in a very long time and right now he's stuck in the mud won't be getting anything major passed even with a second term.

If Romney gets in we'll see a bunch of democrat lite ideas get passed with enough blue state repubs going along for the ride, it could cost us big time.

Remember the VAT is a middle of the road type idea. It's the only kind of tax that gives uncle sam enough revenue to pay for a euro nanny state.

I hate to tell you guys this, but if you live in Washington or Oregon your vote for President in Nov. 2012 will not matter.

Who won the electoral votes in Washington and Oregon in past Presidential elections:

1988: Dukakis (D)
1992: Clinton (D)
1996: Clinton (D)
2000: Gore (D)
2004: Kerry (D)
2008: Obama (D)

Dave Leip's Atlas of U.S. Presidential Elections

Both Washington and Oregon have been Democratic Presidential states in every one of the past 6 elections. They are not considered to be battleground states, the handful of states where either candidate could win and the states where elections are decided. President Obama is projected to win Washington's and Oregon's electoral votes over any of the Republican candidates.

So argue all you want, vote for whoever you want, because Oregon and Washington won't decide the election. President Obama is going to get Washington's and Oregon's electoral votes (the only votes that count) no matter who you vote for. Obama might lose the election but he will win both Washington and Oregon (and California and Hawaii).

So vote for whoever you really like, and relax, because it won't matter.

HA!

I think you need an education in politics. That healthcare bill was supposed to be killed, heck how many bills and regulations have we been forced to swallow? Obama threatened to not pay our military and close down all federal work until a budget could be decided upon. You don't think that bills with hidden gun bans will be forced to the senate, re-written and then shoved down their throats to sign? The media won't be used to manipulate public persuasion? When is the last time you have ever been contacted to fill out a political poll?

Having our house more red than blue means that the true political corruption is aparent, not that the President has any less control.

Yup, our voting for national candidates in Oregon does not matter. Doesn't that make you feel patriotic? Be sure to thank the major parties for their wonderful choices(remember McCain?), for the rest of the country to decide upon, too.

Why do people say that Ron Paul has no chance of winning? The more you vote for him, the better chance he has to win!

That statement is totally incorrect, and I can't believe Ron Paul supporters do not even remotely understand the mechanics of Presidential politics in this country. The people DO NOT elect the President, the Electoral College does. It requires 270 Electoral Votes to win the Presidency. Ron Paul has run for President a total of three times, and he has yet to receive one single Electoral Vote. He will not receive a single one this time, because the Republican electorate knows he has absolutely zero chance of beating Hussein in a general election. It would be a political disaster for the Republicans if they ran Ron Paul, regardless of how his supporters want to remain in la la land thinking otherwise.

Republicans are not stupid enough to hand the election to the Democrats by nominating Ron Paul. Ron Paul supporters are so detached from political reality it is pathetic. While I am no big fan of Mitt Romney, you had better accept the fact he is going to be the Republican nominee. And before you start complaining too loudly about that fact, here is something else to think about that most Ron Paul supporters don't, won't, or else refuse to digest.

By 2016 there is going to be at least 2 more Supreme Court nominations. If Hussein wins he is sure to nominate the most uber liberal appointees as is possible. 2 more liberals on the Supreme Court will shift the balance of power of the court from 1 vote conservative, to 1 vote liberal. This can and WILL dramatically change the fundamental values of this nation for generations to come. Long after whomever wins the election is dead and gone.

If Romney wins he will appoint more conservative nominees. Would they be as conservative as someone like Regan would have nominated? No, but they will not be socialist liberals like Hussein will nominate. Ron Paul voters need to start thinking about the political realities of this guy running, then LOSING horribly. The aftermath of that would be devastating long after Ron Paul folds up his tent, and goes back to Texas to retire, a three time LOSER.

Portland screws-up every election, not to mention the State of Oregon in general. Salem too. That's why I'm a HUGE believer in the State of Jefferson.

Oregon is also decided by three counties. Multnomah, Marian and Lane. They are mostly liberal and vote that way. Doesn't matter what the rest of the state does.

I agree, it's unfortunate for the republicans. I will probably vote for Paul since it won't matter anyway.

I heard the RNC won't support Cornilles with any financial help because they figure Bonamici is unbeatable due to the D next to her name.

I like the state of Jefferson idea.

The red counties have like 3 people in them. Just about every state in America looks the same, geographically. Would you rather we divide the electorate geographically, so that fewer people have a larger vote?

Ron Paul supporters are so detached from political reality it is pathetic.

Your entire reality is pathetic. The very notion that there is a shred of difference between R and D today is a joke. I'm vote for Ron Paul because he represents the betrayed GOP of Barry Goldwater before it was totally infected by the east coast neocon power lords. You can cheer your Massachusetts conservative all the way to his abolition of 2A.

This country is a banana republic anyways, it will be bankrupt within 20 years. Then the patriots can truly fix the country and rid ourselves of this two party tyranny.
