I checked all of the local stores as well as online sales sites for this rifle, but they were all marked "out of inventory". I finally found one in South Dakota, maybe the last one, and bought it. It's on the way to a local FFL dealer, but of course I can't pick it up until the mandatory 10 day waiting period has elapsed. Just wondering if anyone on the forum has one of these .22WMR rifles and what your opinion might be after using it. Accuracy?

I have the 22LR version, I've had it for many years (6+?)... and it shoots very good. Enough to put me on target out to 200y on 8" steel with CCI STD and CCI Subs. No experience with the 22Mag variant but considering the CHF barrels they use, it should be a good shooter.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't owned a bolt action .22 since I was a kid and I'm really looking forward to this rifle. Glad I found one. Their current rarity makes me think that maybe Ruger will come out with a newer version in the Gen II American series. Now I have to sell a .22 WMR semi-auto that I have to satisfy my better half. 😟

I have had two of the Ruger American 22 wmr rifles both had rough chambers that led to extraction problems a little buff and polish fixed them both shot good but I sold them and bought a semi auto.

Thanks, this is the first I've heard of a rough chamber. How did you accomplish the chamber buffing, and did you use a compound like jeweler's rouge?
I'll be listing a .22 WMR semi-auto when I have enough posts on the forum. May I ask what you bought?
