It seems a custom for new members to share a little bit about themselves so I will. I am moving to the Pacific NW as my wife and I fell in love with it on a trip here years ago. We just transitioned jobs from Philadelphia where we have been the last 3 years. We are new and 1st time homeowners in the Portland area and just moved in one month ago. We have already had a dramatic improvement in our quality of life over Philly.

I shot competitive pistol and 3 gun in Florida for about 8 years before temporarily stopping because there were no good places to shoot competition in Philadelphia. I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things from a firearms hobby perspective. I would love to receive info from experienced users of recommended places to shoot both 3 gun and long range (1000+ yards if such places exist). I consider myself fortunate to stumble upon this forum and searching on how to reduce/expand my gun inventory.

Welcome Aboard. Glad you found the forum.

This is the best place to hang out on the internet.

Check out the organized clean ups. It's the best way to meet the community and learn where and how to use public lands responsibly.

We are doing non ODF supported cleanups at public forests - check the North Fork Wolf Creek Road thread in resources.

If you really want to get involved in community action check out Trash No Land.

Welcome to the forum. Resources tab will help you find places to shoot, places to shop , etc.
Douglas Ridge is a range east of Portland that has 1000 yard capability.
Tricounty Gun Club shoots 600 yards weekly on Tuesdays and one Saturday a month.

FFL transfers can take place in lots of places. Pawn shops tend to have the lowest transfer prices and encourage online shopping and then shipped to their shop for you to pick up after background check. Some gun stores only want to sell their inventory so check first.
There are some very nice gun stores here with large inventories.

You will love no sales tax, You might not like the price of gas. Cheers
