I purchased a new Taurus PT709 Thin at the gun show yesterday. I have not owned an autoload handgun before and I want to break it in right. The manual says to clean grease from the barrel and chamber before firing. While doing that I noticed a lot f grease in the rear of the slide. Should that be cleaned out as well or does that need to be there to lube the slide?

Thanks
RonS

any excess grease should be removed.it can/will hit you in the face when you shoot it.lightly grease/oil slide is what i would do.and remove the extra as you mentioned
