Hi! I'm a new gun owner. In the past I have been shooting multiple times with friends, but I come from an anti-gun family and just purchased a Ruger SR9-C, just wondering where a gal can learn the ins and outs of gun safety? Anywhere around PDX and SEA would work!

Tricounty Gun Club TCGC.ORG has classes and resources available to non-members.
In addition, members can escort non-members as guests.
You have a lot of replies on this thread so you should have some options that will work.

Welcome to NWFA!

Went over my background, what I offer...and what's unique about my training vs others.
3 major points;
1 - My courses aren't dictated by industry standard or public range rules. Shooters are taught that life isn't based on a firing line. My range is constructed in a way where we can shoot about 270 degrees...safely.
2 - If you're a CCW packer, you're obviously going to be out in public, which means if you might have to employ the firearm, you also need to know how to maneuver around people with said firearm out of the holster...safely.
3 - All my classes are kept to 6-8 people max, so we can take advantage of the above...and people get individual attention, and not feel like they're just there going through the motions.

Bottom line, my curriculum is not based on public range rules. I can do more in my curriculum safely, than most any other training facility...the upside to having one's own range.

After that presentation, I did a quick " Mental Mechanics of the Shot" exercise with them. Those who have been to my classes know what that is.

Ended on a good note with the group, along with husbands, family and friends coming over next year in small groups.

I also worked with the chapter leader to help with curriculum for monthly trainings for her group.

Good times had by all.

Gunfighting Systems is in Washougal, Washington. We offer a wide variety of classes for shooting enthusiasts. There are also some great classes being offered through the NRA. Just check out the NRA's website and search for classes offered in your area. Safe Fire indoor shooting range offers a lot of classes, too. Lastly, Cerberus Training Group has classes available on their website.

Gents, lets not make sexist comments here, were all in this together, and helping out ANY new shooter should be De'rigure for all, regardless of anything else!

And the more ladies who choose to make firearms a part of their self defense plan, the better for all!
I totally agree with you buddy, as i do most of your posts. However, in the title of the thread it says "girl". Is she looking for the guidance of fellow women shooters in particular? Nothing wrong with that. Like ive suggested before, my club (Cascade sportsman's club) has a couple women shooters and i know at least one of them would love to buddy up with another woman shooter. It is cool to see women participating and enjoying their freedoms and 2nd amendment rights. Im all for women shooters, but in most clubs, i see a shortage of them. I also have great respect for them, as most of them ive seen are naturals. OP, good luck with your search.

And not only that 99% of the people giving advice on where to go are in the Portland area.
