Yeah, I don't get the full size grip with a compact slide idea myself
Yup. Especially because the longer barrel and slide are the easy part to hide when carrying.
Its about diminishing returns on concealment. Anytime we add grip to a gun it will shoot better but the whole point of shortening a slide length is concealment and adding grip length back takes away from the concealment part.
But its good to have options.
While it may true the slide/barrel is typically the easy part of the gunto hide vs the butt, it is not always the case with every body type. For example, one of shorter stature may be able to conceal well a full size butt AIWB but a long slide/barrel may go into their pelvic crease making it impossible to sit down or even bend at the waist while a shorter one fits fine and accommodates full mobility.

Don't be hasty to discount something just because you're not seeing it, similarly to the forward mounted rear sight. Changes are there might be legit reasons for its existence.

You literally just described me. Anything longer than a 19 length slide digs into me. Sure you can add pillows and wedges to try and mitigate it.... The Grip is not the issue for me personally. Its the length of the slide which causes extreme discomfort.

A Commander sized 1911 is one of my typical carry guns, and is the one I carry when it's time to dress up. That's not a small gun with a short slide or a short grip, although shorter that a 5". For concealment I carry IWB about 4-4:30. That's also where I carry when not concealed.
In reference to what @titsonritz, says, oh heck yeah, body type matters. I'm pretty slender and only have experience with what works for me. I can tell you what works for me does not work for my wife, as an example. All of the positives I've heard as reasons for carrying AWIB compared to normal IWB don't work for me. I'm sure a full sized gun won't fit many people in AWIB.
I will always state what I know works for me. That's all I know. Other's have a different style that works for them and I won't knock that or them.

But I can knock any Glock, because that's my prerogative! :s0140:

I can see how the G45 would work for different people and the added grip makes it nicer to shoot. I'm like Orygun and AIWB is super uncomfortable even with a 4in bbl, but also the full size grip would print more on slender builds negating the concealment benifit of AIWB. So thats why its harder for some to grasp the full size grip + compact slide idea but I fully agree options are a good thing.

I EDC a G45, one of my favorite guns.

This one? No thanks, that optic is too big for anything but a range gun. Plus it looks goofy.

But it's still kinda funny that it makes me literally say "Block".

I think it was "jeez look at the block on that thing". I guess that can go either way. :D

I have a G17 Gen3 with an ACRO cut slide (done by the Glock store). That ACRO is on there solid and tight, it sits a bit lower too. Personally that's the only way I'd do it. This new Glock and AimPoint collaboration doesn't really impress me.

To be honest, I tried the whole red dot on a pistol and it's not really my cup of tea. If you're gonna PDW/SBR then of course you want a red dot.

I have a POF SMG-PK (MP5-K) and something like a braced Glock with a red dot and a silencer is more up my ally. I'm digressing so I'm gonna stop here.

Something I either missed in this thread or wasn't mentioned I just saw on a Facebook post about this gun, it looks like there is some "improved" or proprietary mounting system with this Aimpoint optic is what makes this model unique.
Ive never thought about how enclosed emitter optics are mounted? Is this typical for any gun?

Looks to me like the same mount that b&t USW for Glock uses. It's made for acro, but if you want to use others then you screw in the included pic rail onto the acro mount.

Unique and proprietary optic and slide cut design. Appears that the forward/backward sheering stress on regular mounted perpendicular set screws is mitigated by the angle of the rear iron sight connection to the back of the optic. Compared to the regular Acro P-2, I read that this optic sits lower on the Glock slide and avoids punching through to the different extractor-plunger channel, or the plunger spring cutout. Pricing is kind of in line with MSRP for an MOS + Acro P-2. Don't think I need it that badly to replace any current Glock setups though.
