Got it in today, but it was rainy and dark, so no range time.

Overall impressions are very good. I was really worried about the thicker slide, but it is not noticeable. If I was carrying a G19 everyday, then the G23 would be nearly identical.

Trigger was very good out of the box with a pull right around 5 lbs. My Gen 5 G19 has a polished assembly and is a bit lighter, but the G23 trigger actually felt better with less creep and was smoother.

The holster I ordered for it off of Amazon did not fit, of course. I emailed the company asking if it would fit the new Gen 5 G23 with the thicker slide and they said it would. It would not. Whatever, works perfect for the G19.

But my old Blackhawk CQC leather holster was a perfect fit, so I will use that until more options are available...

Overall, very happy with the pistol. Just plunk tested some reloads with the 200gr GDs and 180gr FMJs loaded to factory spec 1.125" and they plunked fine, but there is a LOT of play in the chamber. That may be an issue, but I will have to see how it shoots.

I'll be curious if your casings will become "pregnant" like my gen 4 23. Maybe my gen 3 22c but I can't remember on that one.... Your supposedly looser chamber suggests they might?

Drug out my G35 Gen 4 and compared it to the Gen 5 as far as plunk tests and it is identical. Never any issues with the G35 and it will do 1.5" groups, so hopefully the G23 is capable of the same accuracy. I've re-used the cases from the G35 many times with no issues.

Lots of speculation and misinformation that the new Gen 5 .40 S&W pistols are now just as thick and bulky as the 10mm and .45 ACP Glocks.

Not true at all.

The new Gen 5 frames are identical in width and size as the 9mm versions. The slides of the .40 S&W versions are indeed thicker, but not as thick as the 10mm.

My Gen 5 G23 slide and frame...
