am I having a stroke or do not all these seem bad? Perhaps I was expecting the worst

SB86- so I can set up a public range on some farm land? Hot damn Im going to start shopping for land.
SB 173 - dont have to surrender a firearm when going into a public building, just show them the CHL? what, no automatic tazing?
SB170 - firearm training in school? I think I would be up for that kind of homework.

My eyes are still bugging out of my head from going through the OLIS page looking for firearm related bills so I haven't delved into any details yet, but some do not seem bad on the surface. I would be very wary of the 'gut and stuff' though.

Without having looked I would imagine that the bills that don't seem bad were sponsored by R's and the cynic in me says they likely don't stand a chance. That doesn't mean I won't do what I can to see that they pass though.

As a side note; There are other bills that seem very good and some that seem bad, but they are not firearm related.

I have a real problem with SB106. I just don't trust our state government enough to have more bureaucrats giving out rules on firearms. There is nothing in the bill about curriculum, costs, staffing, class sizes, etc. Who is going to decide all this, the Khitzhaber appointed DPSST heads? OFF says they helped Kim Thatcher write this bill, but I feel like this is exactly the kind of weak legislation that Courtney is looking for to screw us all with.

I know OFF has an issue with the NRA and if we lived in a state like Utah (that has the BCI to run all their CCW stuff) then it would be a different story. We live in the state of Portland though and Portland hates guns.

Look at HB 2705

Representative Frederick
Regular Sponsors: (Presession Filed)
Bill Title: Relating to the use of deadly force; declaring an emergency.
Catchline/Summary: Changes standard in some circumstances for use of deadly physical force to belief by reasonable person in officer's or person's circumstances that other person is undertaking particular conduct.
Modifies element of plan adopted by county deadly physical force planning authority to consist of outreach and training regarding use of reasonable deadly physical force. Modifies requirement that law enforcement agency adopt guidelines for reasonable use of deadly physical force. Declares emergency, effective on passage.

Who determines what a "reasonable" person would do??
A reasonable liberal anti-gun person??? They would hide in place or something instead of addressing the threat. This doesn't mean a reasonable conceal carry gun owner I'm sure. To them that is already unreasonable.
I think this is one of many problems coming our way this session!
