So the ATF has a new 4473 that will be showing up at your local FFL's soon. Have a look at question number 10. The link below is to a simple one.

Also the system they use is not set up to use this new 4473 yet. :s0131: As of July 9, 2012 the new form 4473 will be used when purchasing a gun.
<broken link removed> <<Page 6 just say a new one is on the way.

I've seen that new are you hispanic or not question when switching doctors. It's really bizarre the way it's separated into a separate and redundant question from the rest of the race/ethnicity questions. Makes you wonder why that race gets special distinction and are being singled-out. raised-eyebrow.png

Notice question 19 too!
If sale at a gun show or other qualifying event.

Probably going to be a new "rule" from BATF requiring all sales at gun shows (any showing where three or more people are present) go through NICS.

The requirement on multiple long gun sales that was upheld was just to test the waters and see if they could require more without a law being passed.

O' take a good look at the bottom left side of the page then the right. ;)
So how many people filled out the old one from Apr to now?
So FFL's have yet to see or know of the new 4473 and the system is still setup on the old 4473 that by this one is no longer any good.

When it was revised and when it is implemented are not the same.

"Note: Previous Editions Are Obsolete" Some FFL's have the new 4473 others have yet to see them at all.

Which means when you get the new ones then you should use them, not the old ones.

I guess I don't really see why you are making such a big deal about it? It's the government nothing makes sense, why try to put logic to it?

The wording of question #22 didn't get changed and is going to continue to cause issues. As an individual it is correct but if picking up a an NFA item transferred to a trust or other legal entity where a background check hasn't been done at the ATF then a NICs check needs to be done on the person picking up the item.

No a NICS check is not required for the sale of firearms registered under the National Firearms Act (NFA) assuming all NFA requirements have been satisfied. And the dealer can't transfer the NFA registered thing until the paper is complete.
ATF Online - Firearms - Frequently Asked Questions - Brady Law
NFA item transferred to a trust or other legal entity needs to have a member pick it up or someone with the power to "ACT" for them. Some form of legal document is needed to show connection to the trust or other legal entity.
Non-NFA
When the buyer of a firearm is a corporation, association, or other organization, an officer or other representative authorized to act on behalf of the organization must complete the form with his or her personal information and attach a written statement, executed under penalties of perjury, stating that the firearm is being acquired for the use of the organization and the name and address of the organization.
I hope this helps Abiqua.
