Bought a NIB Remington 1911 R1 Limited match gun in .40 S&W last month and took it out once to check for function, which it passed with 100% reliability. But, the groups I was seeing were less than impressive.

Some suggested breaking it in and shooting it more.

So, yesterday I headed down to the family cabin and brought it, my P365, and my nightstand pistol, a S&W M&P40 with me.

I didn't want to go through much precious ammo, so did a few magazines worth shooting the reactive target, then concentrated on slow fire offhand at ten yards to see what each gun was capable of.

First group with the 1911 wasn't bad, but had a flyer. Second group was downright nice and tight at 3/4". Not bad for cheap Federal Brass ammo...

I took the 2" x 4" paper divider out of the Federal bulk pack and for S&Gs tried to hit it from 25 yards, offhand with the P365 and then the 1911. I was about 2" to the right with the P365, but actually nicked it a couple of times on the left side with the 1911 and got about a 2.5" group. Not bad at all for cheap ammo.

Then decided to see what the P365 could do up close and got a decent 1" group at ten yards.
