So a few weeks ago I ordered an AR15 from sportsman's warehouse it was estimated to arrive on the 12th. I wait for the 12th and no update so I called their customer support and they said it arrived and I will be contacted when it's ready. I feel like a good bit of companies would follow up with a new estimate date or something absolutely zero communication. I called the store that I placed my in-store pickup with and I was told they had a large shipment of AR15's come in but they only have one person dealing with the entire shipment of AR15's. I politely thanked him not much he could do. I just don't understand what the problem is with communication. I didn't even receive an email when my shipment ship but I know it ship because that's what they told me. Call me old school but I'm a fan of tracking numbers/ status updates specially when I'm spending almost a thousand dollars.. So essentially I'm just waiting till they can get to it lord knows when that will be.. Had I known this is the type of situation I was going to run into I would have bought locally lesson learned! Luckily for me I have enough gun that I should be fine till it's ready to be picked up but what about the people who are buying it for self defense and it is the only gun they have/ don't have? I'm not trying to come off as rude but I'm tired of establishments using Covid-19 as an excuse for bubblegumty service and that goes for almost every retail store I have visited/dealt with in the past 12 months. Moral of the story buying locally. Hopefully I can get my rifle soon after that I won't be doing my business with them again.
they do have a lot of stuff that becomes available for very fair prices around 11:15 pm every night on their website which is how I found my zastava a couple months ago. same thing happened to me. no notification that it shipped and when I reached out to the store it turned out they already had it and just hadn't gotten around to let me know yet. downside to big corporations is there will be poor service. but the plus side is a huge selection at prices that weren't affected much by covid. be patient and I hope u are satisfied once you finally get your hands on it

and then the guy who helped me completely took it apart without my permission including the hand guard which was completely unnecessary and got the oils all over the wood furniture. he kept talking and trying to show off his knowledge after I told him I was in a rush. horrible service but I got what I wanted eventually

Well a lot of retail stores are having an increasingly hard time hiring and keeping employees. I guess it's a lot easier to sit at home and get a free check.

But also a lot a places are seeing this Covid BS and "restrictions" as a way to add money to the store revenue.

It wasn't very long into the Covid experience that I foresaw it would be used for cover for every shortcoming or failure imaginable
Eggggg-ZACTly.
Just a little sneak peek into hive-mind and accepting the low, low standards of a new normal.

It started with already slow/incompetent government services being reduced.

Then the Guv expanded their illness into private business by shutting them down.

Everything ground to a near halt and people grudgingly accepted it since it was temporary.

Then, those very same people's perceptions changed... they realized that, given the right circumstances, Americans would accept subpar goods/services and be damn happy to get either.

Within a year, the Overton window of expectations has dropped through the floor.

It's been proven that humans will adapt and that their performance is directly correlated to expectations. If you demand excellence, people deliver. If you accept failure, that's what you get and those failing will use any readily available excuse to cover it.... Covid provided that cover and people lowered themselves to the occasion.

Imagine implementing UBC, $20 min wage, socialism, or any of the recreational unemployment schemes (currently in action) on a large scale. Low expectations create pitiful performance and breed contempt for excellence.

Perfectly sound observation

The excuse to do nothing has morphed into a means of cutting commercial corners and saving on reduced customer service. One small example. One place where Mrs. Merkt buys clothes, at the onset of Covid, they closed down the dressing rooms. Okay, now that many of the restrictions have been lifted, the dressing rooms are still closed. Why? Because it eliminates the need for the store to pay an employee to re-rack the try-ons. Once a way to cut back has been found and accepted, it will endure. Mrs. Merkt won't buy something she cannot try on and she told them so, so left without purchase.

I will save my money and not shop in their stores. If I don't have it then I don't need it. Next question.

I had them mess up my paper work, then blame me for it.
won't go into much details, but they called cops on me.
cops came, found out at that time I work for PPD, that I was not a felon, that they miss up my form with other with a completely different person.

why???
I was Mexican and they mix it up with other that was Mexican.
they also said in the back (I over heard) I can't find the wet backs paperwork.
first in last time i shop chain store for guns
chickenman, I hate that they treated you like that man..that's total BS on their part! Call corporate and get the azzhat fired...that's just plain wrong dude.. lo siento bro...

I went to sportsman's 4 times for one online ordered gun- 1 attempted 4473, 2 filled out 4473, 3 attempted pick up, 4 completed pick up. Two of the times I went in and the wait for service was over an hour so I backed out.
For actual pick up, I went first thing in the morning. I got service but the man who helped me took forever because he wouldn't stop talking to me about kate brown conspiracies and pandemic buzzword bubblegum. I didnt even respond. Kate Brown, his guns, the current state of things according to him. He had to constantly find where he was in the transaction because he'd lose focus talking. I looked at my watch and mentally set a cut off point for how far I would let it go on. Im Glad I didn't have to tell him to STFU and do his job. I really wanted to but restrained from it. I just weighed my options decided to be patient and made it out finally.
Oh, and He knew. A few times he acknowledged the time and said how he was "gonna get me on my way."
In total there were a couple hours spent at sportsman's to get one gun.

I got a good deal but the time it took, probably not worth the savings. The only value is that the gun was so hard to find. Sportsman's was the only place that had come in stock for MSRP in months.

Just opinion from my point of view but as things changed so did my way of shopping.

A store has really bad service and I still want the product then I go buy it on line. I would rather risk shipping than deal with bad service.

My gun buying has changed too, I won't order a gun through the store and only buy if they have it in stock at that store.

Actually I have been buying more guns off NWFA and having a transfer done as it goes faster. A recent purchase being second in line at instant check took 45 minutes to complete. Much faster than the big box stores.

Worst service is the phone trees and stores that don't answer their phones in my opinion. Store won't answer his phone then you don't even know if they are open so why go there?

This is why @Andy54Hawken is happy with his whitney patent front stoker.

not really

I have had nothing but good experiences with Sportsman's Warehouse off of 185th. Like literally any industry across the country, the human element can cause significant issues and negative experiences.

I am still under 30 years old, so I can't really comment on what service industries were like in the golden days; however, I have heard plenty of stories and read many examples of businesses screwing over customers (intentionally or unintentionally) from well before my time!

Of course I still have a threshold for when I refuse to do business with a company (like Bimart for having no interest in helping 18-20 year olds partake in the 2nd Amendment), but it typically takes more than one mistake. To each their own of course!

If someone said anything racist you should have asked for a manager. You are the customer and due all the respect in the world.
While acting in a racist manner or saying anything racist has no excuse, many customers do not deserve the respect of any floor associates from any retail establishment.

I went into the one in Spokane valley a month ago. I asked if they had a set of scope rings , 11 mm dovetail to fit my anschutz and the guy told me no one ever made a 11 mm dovetail mount. I said ok, and got a set off ebay

I have seen in the past where lazy men who don't want to be of service use the "nobody ever made that" line. Its my opinion that its all about money. Service means I serve you to give you what you want for an agreed fee. Things have changed to " I ain't making enough money for the time I am spending serving you". Its inflation that causes bad service.

The good guys understand you must work harder in bad times to make ends meet. Too many can't see a future in working hard so they dont.

Thinking about it :D Maybe if the public starting giving tips for good service in a store then we would get better service.?:s0093:
Absolutely not, do you always get good or even reasonable service in a restraint? Also, I despise these fast food joints that ask for tips too. I don't eat out that much but tips are to be weaned and had better not be expected. I work hard for my money and if someone isn't working for theirs they get an appropriate tip amount.

Was in there in 2019 and was hoping to pick up a rifle for my old man, in particular a Bergara. Waited at the counter as two of the sales dudes chatted with other customers and another older gentleman used the computer. After about 10 minutes I asked the dude at the computer (he was closest to me) if I could see one of the B14s on the wall. He rolled his eyes, took it off, and handed it to me, demonstrating probably the most blatant signs of annoyance I have ever experienced. As I was looking it over, I asked if they had a particular caliber in stock, to which the guy said "I don't know, I'm too busy to check. Why don't you go up to the front and ask for a stock check or checkout our website?" I set the rifle down on the counter and left. I'll shop at stores like that, but not that one.
