Netanyahu reported considering Russia as partner for Israel

Netanyahu reported considering new partner for Israel

BEIRUT, Lebanon – A recent comment by reinstated Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has prompted renewed interest in closer Israeli-Russian relationship – despite their differences over Iran's nuclear program, informed sources say in a report in Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.

Lieberman suggested that Israel needed to find alternative strategic partners to the United States, a comment which later prompted his deputy to downplay the statement.

Lieberman referred to the idea as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was in Moscow to discuss further links between the two countries, particularly in technical cooperation, trade and regional security.

At their meeting, Netanyahu reportedly praised Russian President Vladimir Putin for pushing for the full destruction of Syria's chemical weapons arsenal.

Putin was in a "joyful mood" at a televised news conference. For his part, Netanyahu also spoke about the historical cultural ties between Russians and Jews.

While enhancing relations with Moscow despite their major differences over support both for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Iran's nuclear program, Lieberman, who remained in Israel, made particularly directed comments on furthering ties with Russia.

Lieberman, who was recently acquitted by a court on charges of fraud and breach of trust, said that Israel needed to find new international partners to replace the United States.

"Ties between Israel and the U.S. are weakening," Lieberman said, due to the U.S. position on Iran's nuclear program, and on other issues. "The Americans today are dealing with too many challenges and they are busy in Iran and North Korea and also have economic and immigration problems."

Israel, Lieberman said, "must first of all look to have relationships with countries that do not need financial assistance, that don't have problems in the international arena, and don't depend on the Islamic-Arabic world."

The comment immediately got Moscow's attention as it now is seeking to extend its influence throughout the Middle East.

"I am sure Lieberman would be very happy to have an alliance with Russia," said Yoav Peled, a professor at Tel Aviv University's Department of Political Science. "But I am not sure that the interests of these two countries are more compatible than the interests of Israel and the U.S.

Observe good faith and justice towards all Nations; cultivate peace and harmony with all. Religion and Morality enjoin this conduct; and can it be, that good policy does not equally enjoin it? It will be worthy of a free, enlightened, and, at no distant period, a great Nation, to give to mankind the magnanimous and too novel example of a people always guided by an exalted justice and benevolence. Who can doubt, that, in the course of time and things, the fruits of such a plan would richly repay any temporary advantages, which might be lost by a steady adherence to it? Can it be that Providence has not connected the permanent felicity of a Nation with its Virtue? The experiment, at least, is recommended by every sentiment which ennobles human nature. Alas! is it rendered impossible by its vices?

In the execution of such a plan, nothing is more essential, than that permanent, inveterate antipathies against particular Nations, and passionate attachments for others, should be excluded; and that, in place of them, just and amicable feelings towards all should be cultivated. The Nation, which indulges towards another an habitual hatred, or an habitual fondness, is in some degree a slave. It is a slave to its animosity or to its affection, either of which is sufficient to lead it astray from its duty and its interest. Antipathy in one nation against another disposes each more readily to offer insult and injury, to lay hold of slight causes of umbrage, and to be haughty and intractable, when accidental or trifling occasions of dispute occur. Hence frequent collisions, obstinate, envenomed, and bloody contests. The Nation, prompted by ill-will and resentment, sometimes impels to war the Government, contrary to the best calculations of policy. The Government sometimes participates in the national propensity, and adopts through passion what reason would reject; at other times, it makes the animosity of the nation subservient to projects of hostility instigated by pride, ambition, and other sinister and pernicious motives. The peace often, sometimes perhaps the liberty, of Nations has been the victim.

So likewise, a passionate attachment of one Nation for another produces a variety of evils. Sympathy for the favorite Nation, facilitating the illusion of an imaginary common interest, in cases where no real common interest exists, and infusing into one the enmities of the other, betrays the former into a participation in the quarrels and wars of the latter, without adequate inducement or justification. It leads also to concessions to the favorite Nation of privileges denied to others, which is apt doubly to injure the Nation making the concessions; by unnecessarily parting with what ought to have been retained; and by exciting jealousy, ill-will, and a disposition to retaliate, in the parties from whom equal privileges are withheld. And it gives to ambitious, corrupted, or deluded citizens, (who devote themselves to the favorite nation,) facility to betray or sacrifice the interests of their own country, without odium, sometimes even with popularity; gilding, with the appearances of a virtuous sense of obligation, a commendable deference for public opinion, or a laudable zeal for public good, the base or foolish compliances of ambition, corruption, or infatuation.

As avenues to foreign influence in innumerable ways, such attachments are particularly alarming to the truly enlightened domestic factions, to practice the arts of seduction, to mislead public opinion, to influence or awe the Public Councils! Such an attachment of a small or weak, towards a great and powerful nation, dooms the former to be the satellite of the latter.

Against the insidious wiles of foreign influence (I conjure you to believe me, fellow-citizens,) the jealousy of a free people ought to be constantly awake; since history and experience prove, that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of Republican Government. But that jealousy, to be useful, must be impartial; else it becomes the instrument of the very influence to be avoided, instead of a defense against it. Excessive partiality for one foreign nation, and excessive dislike of another, cause those whom they actuate to see danger only on one side, and serve to veil and even second the arts of influence on the other. Real patriots, who may resist the intrigues of the favorite, are liable to become suspected and odious; while its tools and dupes usurp the applause and confidence of the people, to surrender their interests.

The great rule of conduct for us, in regard to foreign nations, is, in extending our commercial relations, to have with them as little political connection as possible. So far as we have already formed engagements, let them be fulfilled with perfect good faith. Here let us stop.

The Russians invented the word "Pogrom" which is what they call a good, old fashioned jew round-up, which can also include beating, raping & killing. I'm sure they really miss these events and simply need a few more jews to continue having this event continue, back home. Seems to really invigorate the population of Russia.

I wonder if John Kerry will still send Netanyahu a Christmas card? I know John Biden will.

Let's see: On one hand we have been crapping on all of our traditional allies; on the other hand or enemies no longer fear us (too busy laughing at us). Its pretty obvious that we aren't going to pull our heads out anytime soon - kinda like just before WW2.

Dark times will be upon soon because of our own ignorance and arrogance. Israel will likely fall - I don't see how they can wait out another ten years of this - but they will take many with them when they do.

But, but... I thought Obama was going to end terrorism, stop global warming, give us free healthcare, and make everyone like us. What happened???

I'll bet Cheney and Rumsfeld did something. Or was it Karl Rove?

Maybe if we had experienced the jewish led communist revolution and Christian purges/mass murders we would feel the same..

It is estimated as many as 100 million white Christian Russians died in the mass murders led by jewish communists. Kinda makes the "6 million" claim" Look tiny, eh?

Thank you Gunfix, it is a reality that came late but powerfully to me. Christ said there would be "twice sons of hell" who would be of other races and destroy their own peoples for profit/power

It does,
Kinda makes me wonder if the pogroms started before or after them killer jews came along

I'm not surprised that Israel is looking for someone else to ally themselves with, as Obama has pretty much done a great job at turning his back on the Jewish state and allying the US with Hezbollah and Iran.....

Maybe because they have turned everyone else against them. It's a crazy time

It is a crazy time....I know, via past threads, that you're not a fan of Israel. Though I'm not Jewish myself, I am a huge supporter of Israel for a variety of reasons. Personally, I'd support them 100% if they bombed every one of their neighboring aggressors back to medieval times.....

I actually know a lot about the Jewish people and Israel in general.....I mean zero disrespect Blitz. If you'd like, PM me sometime and we can chat about it.
Cheers...

We should my friend.. first, please google the terms Edomites and Maccabeans. I will keep our discussion private

There is no excuse for pogrom or genocide. Nonetheless, for at least in Ukraine the issue goes clear back to the 1630's. And back in those days, wide spread arse kicking was brutal, and was a reaction to an action.
I'll say no more...

My mother was Jewish, which makes me an MOT.
I'm no fan of how the State of Israel is treating the Palestinians.
Still, when I read through this thread, I am so grateful that my people have learned to kick some serious *** in the last sixty years.
