Need help identifying a Mauser

Hello, I haven't been on for a while but I have a few questions about a Mauser i just picked up.

I have been trying to identify this Mauser, the shop I bought it says it is a 7 mm Turkish model but there are very few identification Mark's on it.

With the side mount sling and turned down bolt handle...I would guess this is a Model 38 Short Rifle...these as far as I know came in 8 mm not 7 mm...

Thanks, I have a lot of digging to do on this. When I got home and did some quick research I began to feel as if they may not k ow what they sold me.

I'm still happy, I just want to figure out what it is

If it is indeed a Model 38 Short Rifle...
These were altered rifles , by the Turks in the 1930's from rifles already issued...they were shortened and had the bolt turned down and new side mount slings...( All military armory work )
These were made from the 1903 Turkish Mauser , the G.98 and Czech Model 98/22 rifles....

It's amazing how hard it is to find clues. I know that they were used by several different nations and altered in many ways.

I may do a casting to figure out what caliber it is

I am guessing that there is no crest or date on the receiver...?
It would be ever so helpful , if there was one...
I do think that the sling is a US GI M1 rifle sling....

I , if one can believe it or not , am the Behavior Specialist there...

Mausers are a whole lot of fun, especially when you find one of the more rare or obscure ones!
I have a Daimler-Steyr-Punch Ag of which only 4400 were made before the plant was bombed to ashes!
Too bad it was sporterized, but it's cool none the less!
