My real Father died when I was 2 weeks old and all I have of his is a Marlin Model 39, an old one with the octoganel barrel. When I was young, I fired 22LR and the bolt broke in half. I would love to get a operational bolt for my gun. Can anyone help me?
The old Marlin 39's were made with a bolt design that was not near as strong as the newer models. The old bolts had a bad habit of cracking with modern "high speed" ammo as yours did. A new bolt will most likely fit but would take some alteration to the lever and maybe some other parts. The action is the same but there are subtle differences between the 39 and the 39A.
