So I know that sometime in the future I will be looking to sale some guns that were purchased before the mandatory background check was in place. So some of the guns were bought off people at gun shows and other places. I got thinking and was wounding how do I go about getting them checked out so I know that they are not stolen. I had records on most of the transactions but unfortunately my storage unit was brocken into and the paperwork was with some ammo and they took it all. Lucky no guns were stolen and it was reported to the police. Thanks in advance for any help.

You don't. You'll find out when the buyer does a BGC.
This is it as far as I am aware, at least for an available method. You could try paying an FFL to run them as a sale to you, and that would get the check done, but now they are in the system as yours, because it is a recorded sale.

If you are in a county where you trust the CLEO and they are willing to run the numbers for you that may be an option, but I would have no idea which counties that would be worth trying in. I would imagine most of them would not be willing to do that kind of work just for curiosity's sake.

At the end of the day treat the pre-BGC guns like any other, if there is a problem you will find out at the next recorded transfer.
