What is the standard depth penetration for a pistol caliber bullet to be classified as a defensive cartridge in ballistic gel?

What prompted the creation of the .40 S&W cartridge?

What does ACP mean?

What are the three major components in a standard primer?

Name at least one firearm that you can safely fire three (or more) different cartridges from without any modification.
I'm a noob, only been into guns for a few years
#1 I think it's 13 inches
#2 In the the Miami shootout the 9mm failed spectacularly, so instead of returning to the 45, which would have been an admittance they made a mistake replacing it with the 9mm, they came up with the 10mm. LEOs complained about the recoil of the round so they shortened it to a .40 S&W.
#3 ACP = Automatic Colt Pistol.
#4 I have no idea.
#5 Besides the S&W Governor, .357 revolver and .460 S&W Magnum

Nasty bastids.. Though I've heard of the 380/200 referred to as a manstopper. And I think they did use like a .577 revolver in the Mau-Mau (wait.. Zulu) wars.
