So I got another picture, and decided to use an American made Magazine as my last 3 922r parts.
There is still work to be done, as this is just a dry fit.
I have the Tapco side folder in Black also, but I think I like the looks of the Timbersmith better,

Well, I just found one local "Gunsmith" (Revelation Arms) I will never trust again.
He absolutely ruined my rivets, not countersunk, and flattened on the back.

I would take it back and complain,
but, I'm not sure he could do it right even if he wanted to.
Man, I am so angry right now:angry:

O.K.
Big time thanks to Jesse at <broken link removed>
I drove down to see him today and in about 20 min's
he had my rivets sorted out and looking professional.
Good price too.

Ok, Here goes...
I just got a Draco Pistol.
After shooting it I decided I wanted a stock.
So I took off the muzzle nut, and bought a 5 inch flash hider
to be spot welded on for a 16.5 inch Barrel.

First question: How many parts on this CIA Draco are U.S. made ?
I know that I already have 3 as I spoke with a fellow from Century,
and was told that they install a Tapco G2 FCG before they ship them out.
He couldn't tell me anything else.

Second Question: Do I need to do any paperwork to reclassify this
as a rifle after I finish the project or will nobody bat an eye if they
check my serial numbers and my rifle comes back as a pistol?

Some guy, behind the counter at a Gun "Store" out here in WA County
said it might be a problem if I did not contact the importer,
and the dealer I bought it from, and the BATF to let them all know that
I had changed my pistol into a rifle.
That same guy said that Century also changed the piston, and the sights
with American made parts, but I think he might have been full of bubblegum.

This is a new game for me, and I am probably being paranoid,
but better to be safe than sorry, in jail, in debt, :s0058::s0026:

Thank you for your help

As I understand it, once you get the NFA Tax Stamp the parts count will no longer matter...

With a 16.5 inch barrel there is no Tax Stamp,

That said, I have found 2 letters from BATF posted on the web which state
that 922R does Not apply to NFA weapons,
and that 922r Does Apply to NFA weapons.
For your own safety, please write to BATF and Trust nothing you read anywhere else.

My Draco did NOT come with a Tapco trigger group or piston. They are imported as pistols, and do NOT fall under 922r rules. If you convert to a rifle, it falls under the rules, and you will need 5 US parts assuming your extension is US made and unthreaded. Once it's welded it's part of the barrel and not a separate part. If it's threaded, the attachment needs to be US, or run bare threads.

Job Done.
Thanks to Northern Gun Parts for the muzzle device

Thanks to Scott Wilson at Clackamas County Gunsmith for the reparkerizing job.

I swear I am never going to do anything like this ever again...
(after I finish my UZI build)

You're jumping through all these hoops, why not go the easy (and less expensive) route and Form 1 it as an SBR (got a little lump in my throat there saying the SBR route is easy).

The welded receiver, bolt and striker from Nodak Spud count for 4 U.S. made parts
The Barrel counts as 1 more for a total of 5 although you only need 3 for 922r compliance.
As for the Parts Kit the only mods needed were a Block welded into the handgrip to stop the selector from going
to the full auto position, removing the ratchet pawl from the Top Cover,
and cutting the sear with a Dremel Tool so that it would work with the restrictor ring/feed ramp.
Total time about 45 min's, Take a look here for more info UZI Talk Forums
The only parts of the Kit I didn't use were the receiver sections and the Full Auto bolt.
The main reason I bought the kit was to get the IMI handgrip with Hebrew markings.

Beware of people who make things sound more complicated than they should be,
chances are they are trying to sell you something.
