    Ok, Here goes...
I just got a Draco Pistol.
After shooting it I decided I wanted a stock.
So I took off the muzzle nut, and bought a 5 inch flash hider
to be spot welded on for a 16.5 inch Barrel.

First question: How many parts on this CIA Draco are U.S. made ?
I know that I already have 3 as I spoke with a fellow from Century,
and was told that they install a Tapco G2 FCG before they ship them out.
He couldn't tell me anything else.

Second Question: Do I need to do any paperwork to reclassify this
as a rifle after I finish the project or will nobody bat an eye if they
check my serial numbers and my rifle comes back as a pistol?

Some guy, behind the counter at a Gun "Store" out here in WA County
said it might be a problem if I did not contact the importer,
and the dealer I bought it from, and the BATF to let them all know that
I had changed my pistol into a rifle.
That same guy said that Century also changed the piston, and the sights
with American made parts, but I think he might have been full of bubblegum.

This is a new game for me, and I am probably being paranoid,
but better to be safe than sorry, in jail, in debt, :bawling::whip:

    Thank you for your help

So, even if I don't make it a SBR I need to file Form 1 ?

Not questioning your knowledge, I just need to be clear about this.

If you want to add a stock you MUST apply to ATF, pay the $200 tax and get approved FIRST

IO inc sells what you are trying to build ready...so if you arn't interested in the form 1 you could always go that route

Why don't you just purchase an AK rifle and have a pistol and rifle? Dracos make a great platform to go the sbr, $200 tax stamp, route. Personally, I can't see spending $200+ what ever parts/ labor total to turn a pistol into a rifle.

I am not starting a flame war, but when is a pistol to rifle permanent conversion a form 1 issue? Converting it to a SBR, yes but not to a 16" barreled rifle.

To legally do this the barrel must be brought to 16" permanently then and only then can a stock go on it.

So, If I spot weld the 5.5 inch flash hider onto the end of a 11.75 in barrel For a total of 17 inches with .25 inches lost to threading,
There is no need for me to file a form 1 before putting a stock on?
Could anyone link to the regulation?

Got off my butt today, and spoke with "Dan" at Seattle BATF today.
He stated clearly that I did not need to file a Form 1 to install a stock
if the barrel was over 16 inches and in the end the total length
including the unfolded stock were over 26 inches, so that question is answered.

Now, can anyone answer the question 1?

I completely was confused by the original post.. Silver Fox was correct. I guess I just couldn't understand why you would go to all that trouble for an AK when you could just sell the Draco to one of us  and go buy a 16 inch barreled AK and reap the extra velocity

I like the Fireball, and the idea of having the dimples on the mag well, and more than anything I like a challenge.
Which this is turning out to be.
I figured if I mucked up on the Draco,
    Which I probably will do,
at least it wouldn't be as expensive as an AR.

    Question #1-

You already have the Tapco FCG which counts for 3 U.S. Compliant parts. You will have a barrel extension or call it a muzzle device and that will be your 4th part. I would recommend your stock, pistol grip and handguard bringing your total to 7 parts.

What kind of stock are you installing? I think you need to post pics of your project.

    My new Romanian housekeeper.

I was looking at a Tapco side folder stock,
But it folds up on the right so I might have to look elsewhere.
I would like to find something solid and light that folds to the left side.

    My fellow friend.

What you need is either a single point sling or a dual point sling.

Use your body in isometric? pressure to simulate a stock. Stable.

FYI once you make your Draco into a rifle it can not go back to a pistol.

At this point in my build I need a new rear trunnion and a couple of rivets.
I tried the sling and It just kept popping my shoulder out.
I do understand that I can not return it to pistol configuration.
It'll be even worse when I find the Romanian vertical front grip.
Those things on a pistol constitute an AOW, and that is big trouble.
