The writer makes a lot of good points, I agree with him.

Bottom line, some of the kids in the school are dangerous to other kids, and people need to stop pretending otherwise. High School kids are having sex, drinking and using drugs, driving cars, working jobs, and sneaking all kinds of contraband into those schools. Even though they are emotionally still retarded, High School kids have means and don't think of themselves as kids. This naivete on the part of parents is truly amazing.

Stronger security in schools is absolutely 100% needed. I'm not sure what that would look like, but Post-911 people figured out how to secure a whole lot of places. Some of those (like a football stadium, for example) are much bigger than the schools. The schools and the parents could figure something out but they don't want to. They don't want to get it right, they want to be right.

The sooner people realize that criminals are just that. Criminals. Who don't follow LAWS. The better off we will be. But I don't think that will ever happen.

The progressive agenda see's dead children as collateral damage for their end goal and their agenda. That's why they immediately jump out there with their gun control narrative while the bodies are still warm... They have no concern about school security. Have you ever heard one of them talk about the NRA's Safe Schools Initiative? Didn't think so...

Talk about disgusting and revolting. The entire lot progressive vermin should be vacated from office by whatever means are necessary.

Whew!!!!

Here is the 8 point plan that the article referred to:
Eight Point Plan
1. Lorem ipsum dolor sit ame

Construct a fully secure and monitored perimeter around every school. Include the installation of strategically placed cameras to provide both a deterrent and effective monitoring of the school.

2. Control the flow
Establish monitored single or limited points of entry that include metal detectors, with multiple egresses from every school.

3. Protect the interior
Place armed guards within every school through the use of School Resource Officers (SROs), a guardian program which empowers schools to arm highly trained staff or school safety specialists that gives priority hiring to retired veterans and law enforcement officers.

4. Develop the School Safety Volunteer Network
Enact a volunteer program, similar to volunteer crossing guards, in which parents are mobilized and tasked by the school to provide school safety assistance. Parents will be given identifying materials, such as a vest, and empowered to monitor the perimeter or hallways during class time.

5. Increase parental communication
Streamline and enhance communications with parents during a school safety incident that results in a lockdown or evacuation of the school campus.

6. Appoint a District School Safety Specialist
Every school district should designate a district school safety specialist to serve as the school district's primary point of public contact for public school safety functions.

7. Increase Mental Health Services
Provide the training and resources necessary for schools to provide proper mental health services for their students.

8. Establish a School Safety Hotline
Develop a system which can receive anonymous calls, texts or emails from students about potential threats within a school. This system should be monitored and immediately addressed by the local school district.

#2 talks about metal detectors. I recall after the parkland shooting, my kids and I talked about metal detectors in the schools. My children pointed out that would be impossible. Think of going through the airport. All electronics and anything metal must come off your body and out of your bag. Kids all have phones, calculators, belts etc... even binders have a metal piece in them. Would metal detectors really work?

The reality is this is just a pipe dream and in a few days or more there will be a shooting that will shut down any real common sense discussions or solutions. Just like our nice little get to know debate on TV was grand spectacle showing how we could work together. It actually faded in a week nice sentiments though.

When I see articles like this, I laugh, not at the tragedy, at the waste of time. No one will do the right thing, its just not within our DNA.
As long as we ignore the BIG HUGE DONKEY, in the room as the real problem we will see no resolutions.

Its gonna take one of a hell of a diverting project to secure any real serious talks or thoughts.

BTW, Oakland, San Rafael, California couple other cities tried guards and many areas that are in this article, they found it singled out
a minority source as a problem and was abandoned. Once we start point at the people with mental issues, and the problem the enforcement will become the problem, not more victims.

The plan that is outlined gives much of the control to the school and district. Instead of the school district hiring an employee(s) to be in charge of safety, why not hire a private contractor firm?
