But it can be used for long range .

Lol I don't know what he is going to use it for .
But you want a quick site in for a 5.56
36 yards site it in at 36 yards .
And then you will be in a few inches of up or down.
The light varmint loads are not going to work good in a 1/8 or 1/7 twist
55 grain is standard for the 5.56

I am not a long range shooter.
But I do have a few AR Rifles.
Short barrel and one long barrel.
I use 55 grain and 62 grain.

He wants to shoot sage rats from close to 400 yards. The 69 SMK at 2730 fits the bill nicely.

Keep in mind this is his first AR. I think he's well on his way to a danged good start.

feed it anything and everything. i "bulk" load for mine. about 26gr of imr4320 or BLC2 powder, cci or winchester primers, 55gr FMJBT, no crimp.
