Join the #1 community for gun owners of the Northwest
We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
I love hiking, but never had the interests in climbing a mountain.
The danger of the crumbling shale, crevices, etc were always a turn off.
I'm not that dedicated.
I think Mt. Hood is the most climbed mountain in the USA. I was in my mid to late teens, in summer. I don't remember it being that hard just a long way to the top.
I do love the Mountain though.
I learned to ski and snowboard on it. Tubing when I was a kid. And thousands of trips across it to travel to Bend.
It's amazing how you take it for granted.
I moved to Kentucky in 2010 for a year then came back.
Of all the things I missed that mountain looming in the background most.
After living here all my life moving to a place that's so flat and lifeless was pure torture.
One of my all-time favourite scenic views in Oregon is found by standing on the steps of the Rose Garden, and seeing Mt Hood in the distance over downtown Portland. I must have taken a thousand shots, and never the same twice...but THIS has to be one of my all-time NON-Mt Hood pics....
I was lucky to spend most of my childhood at Mt Hood, family had a cabin in government camp. Season pass at timberline from age 3 until about 16. The trout fishing in the creeks was phenomenal. Going up to Timberline Monday.
