My condolences to your freedom and your 2A rights:(

Agreed. You're going to experience total culture shock and loss of rights, unfortunately. And it's going to get radically worse.

You can legitimately expect to have to jump thru many hoops to buy more guns. Mandatory requirements to lock up your guns in a safe or you can be held criminally liable if they are stolen and used in a crime. You can expect in the future election terms, some forms of registration, magazine bans, platform bans and tightening restrictions on gun purchases, ammo purchases, gun parts purchases, and online ordering. And gun stores in that area have been driven out mostly and are few and far between.

And that's your jury pool if, God forbid, you ever need to defend yourself and are arrested and prosecuted. A LOT of people forget about that. The mentality of the majority of people in King County is leftists or apathetic.

On top of it, other typical serious socio-economic problems have soared; homelessness, drugs, increasing taxes, destruction of middle class, heavy traffic as drivers are "punished" by the leadership that wants to kill cars, etc.

I got out and couldn't be happier...

I'd strongly encourage you, if you are a 2A person, to avoid that armpit of the state and nation.

Assuming these laws do get passed, high cap mags and assault weapons do get grandfathered in right? I took a look at WA legislative agenda for 2019. Also saw that it was on their 2018 agenda as well! Gotta buy up in Texas while I can

Who knows. But keep in mind, the entire state has basically total stranglehold control. Each legislative session is worse. They have a routine of proposing a handful of draconian gun control, and getting 1 or a few pet ones passed. Then they encroach further next session. Doesn't take long to see your gun rights vanish seemingly overnight. Nothing is safe. I would fully expect, absent a miracle or federal intervention, the following:
* "Assault weapon ban" based on made up terminology and arbitrary features.
* "High capacity" magazine bans, again using fictional terms and arbitrary capacity.
* They already have defacto registration with mandatory background checks. Expect a requirement to register all "assault weapons" or even all guns. Of course that makes rounding them up easier in a few years.
* Expect expansion on "red flag" laws to include nearly anyone can file a complaint and the cops will come, arrest you, and take your guns until you can prove your innocence.
* I think there's already safe storage laws, making you a criminal if you don't comply and your guns are stolen and used in a crime. And you have to report your gun is stolen promptly or that's a crime.
* Expect nitnoid hoops and bans and nonsense on top of all that.

Maybe grandfathered, but that would be temporary as the goal is ultimate confiscation. So that plays out with soft compliance of "banning ABC but grandfathering if you register," followed by a few sessions later simply outlawing them all and using the list to ensure you've complied.

No way would I move there or any state with similar draconian nonsense. Good luck to you if you do.

Has anyone else noticed that the left wing loonies that are supposedly concerned about gun safety seemingly fail to prosecute the criminal felon offenders to the fullest extent of the laws for firearm related offenses? I t seems like the allow them to plea bargain by throwing out the firearm offense in exchange to a guilty plea to a lesser charge which quite often results in them serving little or no time. It's like a revolving door. Just look at the statistics to see how many are charged with illegal possession of firearms or attempt to receive one illegally and how many are actually prosecuted and convicted. It will blow your mind! Every year they brag about the thousands of people they stopped from.illegally acquiring a firearm through their background checks. Then as yourself why there are less than 100 prosecutions each year and approximately less than twenty convictions.

Welcome to NWFA. :)

I'm not 100% sure about the 10.3"AR, but there is no registration in WA....

It is true that you don't have to affirmatively register anything you already have (yet), but WA does in fact have a backdoor registration system for pistols and semi-automatic rifles where the record is created when you purchase the firerarm at a WA dealer (even private sales must go through an FFL) and the Department of Licensing then stores the record forever: RCW 9.41.129: Recordkeeping requirements.

Purchasing a pistol or semi-auto rifle in WA also acts to waive your medical privacy rights: RCW 9.41.094: Waiver of confidentiality.

Moral of the story: if you are thinking about buying a pistol or semi-auto rifle (except for .22 tube fed), WA law should be all the encouragement and justification you need to make the purchase before you get here.

Even then though, expect to have to affirmatively register your semi-auto rifles (and certain pistols) with the State Patrol by year's end: Washington State Legislature (scroll down a bit and click "original bill" for the text).

It's entirely by design. They pass laws and control the power to selectively enforce. They are anointing themselves rulers. Not representatives.

WA dealer (even private sales must go through an FFL

I snipped this part to illustrate a portion of their master plan to register, outlaw and ban guns and frustrate owners.

* Eliminate private sales except when a 3rd party "government agent" FFL can capture and de fact help register the guns' serial numbers in a data base.
* Drive out FFLs thru hassles and taxes and extra work without compensation. (FFLs have had to hire lawyers to interpret vague laws, store guns for 10 days which in the aggregate is cumbersome and many had to buy more safes, etc.). Taxes on guns and ammo in King County drove out many shops. 1639 caused several shops to leave or close. And Tacoma taxes threaten to shut down shops in Tacoma.

So in doing all of the above, they've made a requirement for a middle man FFL to be in the mix, but then drive out many FFLs. That makes it very challenging to trade or buy/sell guns. Any remaining FFLs will be compiling serial numbers for defacto registration for which the ONLY reason a state needs it is to confiscate later. And finally, the added taxes and predictable FFL fees and now requiring 2 trips and a long wait add somewhere around 10-20% to the cost of a gun, making it simply unaffordable and a hassle for many people.

To a near certainty, incrementally over several sessions, will be registration, "grandfathering," bans, and confiscations. Veiled in the name of safety of course. Gun buy backs using your tax money to confiscate your guns...

This is all by design to kill gun ownership generationally.

I've lived in Wash. now for decades, I'm too old to move again, I'm staying.

will be hauling in a 10.3" barrel ar-15, scar,

If the governor, AG and Dem-dominated legislature get their wishes this session (now in progress), those two items will be contraband. Depending on the effective date of such legislation that might pass, you may not be allowed to bring them. That's how the law reads in Calif. which Wash. is determined to copy.

looming ban of high cap mags, etc?

This is likely on the way soon in addition to an assault rifle ban.

From my understanding Washington's current gun laws aren't nearly as bad as CA and NY.

If they aren't yet, they very soon well may be. "Soon" defined as months.

Things may change considerably by the time you get here

This.

This state is totally run and controlled by Democrats

And has been for over 30 years, plenty of time for them to become well entrenched.

hardly recognize the state

I've lived in Wash. for 33 years, agree that in many ways it's unrecognizable. Aliens illegal and otherwise were very rare 33 years ago. There were agricultural migrants who came and went with packing/picking seasons. Somewhere along the line, they quit "wenting." Homeless (vagants) has multiplied by many fold, largely because of a welcoming political atmosphere. Along with them came an increase in street crimes, vandalism, graffiti, littering, boosting, etc. Urban sprawl like crazy. Complete gentrification of entire areas, no wonder poor people can't find a place to sleep overnight, all the crappy old brick cheap hotels and flop houses have been taken over for fancy lofts or torn down to make way for Yuppies working for Amazon.

Unfortunately more Californians (commiefornians) have been filling up Texas because they already ruined their state with high taxes etc.

Well, those who fled to Texas just might be the good ones to have around.

In the eyes of the democrat party here in Washington State every semi-auto rifle is an assult rifle. Rim fire or center fire.
This state is becoming a junior Komiefornia. The majority of the state resides along the I-5 corridor from Olympia north to the Everett area and they are mostly liberals and want guns banned. Every year they afringe upon our gun rights like no tomorrow.
I have lived here for twenty years and will be leaving this hell hole in a couple of years. Petsonally I think you are making a mistake by moving to the Seattle area. Houseing is out of sight, the traffic sucks big time. They allow open drug sales & use on the streets of Seattle.
There are hundreds & hundreds of homeless tent camps all threw out the city limits. Crime rates are very high, they reduce crime charges and do everything to keep there street people out of the jails. They say they can't afford to prosecute them.
I live forty miles north of Seattle and have no reason to go to that hellhole.

No job in the world is worth moving to the Seattle area.

It's so true. I have friends that quit their jobs as policemen in Seattle and moved from there because they are handcuffed from doing their jobs and forced by leftist policy to look the other way and instead focus on generating revenue writing traffic tickets instead of responding to crime and protecting the public. They are fed up. God help them if the have to use any sort of force in defense of themselves or others. They Don't have the support of the political appointees that oversee the police department or the leftist city council or the left-wing residents of the city who constantly berate them screaming police brutality. I really feel sorry for these officers that are forced to live there and put up with that crap while risking their lives and careers on a daily.basis. The criminals and large population of drug addicts and mental patients walking the streets are emboldened by the city's hands off policy. There's not a day goes by that I don't see someone shooting up heroin in the open on city streets and discarding syringes for unsuspecting victims to hazard upon. It's disgusting. Filth everywhere, garbage and human waste strewn all over. I have personally watched people stop, drop their pants and relieve themselves in business doorways, on sidewalks and city streets. Unbelievable!

No job in the world is worth moving to the Seattle area.

Agree. And, from a purely PRINCIPLE standpoint, I don't want to be governed, er..... ruled... by communists and socialists who place illegals and anti-freedom agenda and their own power grabbing hypocrisy above constituents.

I remarked to folks that it felt like I escaped pre-Nazi Germany before the war. The growing totalitarianism, oppression of "undesireables" and taking of property and rights, gentrification, establishing "no go" zones and ghettos, etc. It's not good. Not good at all. Not kidding. Daily, just shook my head. Those running that state are running it into the ground with total depravity and have lost their bubblegum minds! I think there's been and will be a major exodus of normal conservative pro-gun folks and that will leave a cavity of the remainder... good luck with that.

I don't care the amount of money to not go there or to get out. JUST GET OUT and live free.

Downtown Seattle is a pit hole. A dirty stinky pit hole. It takes 1 - 1.5 hours to travel to Seattle from Everett (N. Seattle) depending upon time and weather. A route I avoid like the plague. Renton (S.E. of Seattle) is worse.

The attitudes here are apathetic especially on the right. Recently, while visiting a FFL's store, One customer had signed a voter list to repeal I-1639 and the counter lady presented the list to another customer. That customer shook his head and told her he's not registered to vote. The first customer told the other he could sign up on the phone and it would take five minutes.

The guy refused. He stated his vote would be useless in this state.

It suddenly got quiet in the store. I could tell the first customer was steaming inside as was I. Neither of wanted to make a scene so we let it drop. I know I-1639 has hurt gun stores around the state and any customers, even an apathetic one, still means business.

My principles would have told him to leave my store. I don't need his tiny profit if he's too stupid or lazy to vote.

Amen brother! It's heart breaking. I have watched this happening in Washington and Oregon and in a matter of a few short years the have transformed two of the formerly most beautiful and freedom loving states into an Orwellian nightmare liberal utopian cesspool. My relatives settled these two states more than 170 years ago. My friends from other states used to come and marvel at the natural beauty and cleanliness that these States offered and the live and let live attitude of it's residents. No more, it's fast becoming like every other blue metropolitan area inhabited and run by liberals. I'm ashamed of what these people have done to our states and amazed that they think it's ok to live like this.

We are all pretty much preaching to the choir. One thing we can do is to make sure free thinking people register and vote. Take a person out and introduce them to shooting sports and educate them . When you hear some disinformation have the courage to speak up in a calm manner and dispell the untruths in a clear, cogent and convincing manner. Do not do it in an angry or argumentative fashion. Instead play the devil's advocate, and just answer in a matter of fact way. Many people that voted for some of these phony initiatives did so because they were uninformed, scared, and because they believed the propaganda and lies told to them by the politicians and media. Give them the truth in a loving way. Show them the truth. Be an ambassador for gun ownership by carrying yourself in a respectful manner. Remember, the left paints us as ultraright gun crazed maniacs. We don't want to give any of those people ammo to use against us. I have gun owning friends who vote Democrat that were totally amazed and angry that they were affected by the new gun laws. They are coming to their senses a little late, but better late than never. Encourage them to come over from the dark side. Bone up on the true statistics and facts regarding guns. Be prepared to answer questions and back the true facts. Explain to unbelievers that we too are interested in safety and keeping guns out of criminal hands. Explain to them it's ok if they choose not to be armed. Explain the benefits associated with firearm ownership and how they benefit from their neighbor having a firearm. Ask them what effect that could have if criminals knew all honest people were defenseless. Explain to uninformed that these proposals have no effect on criminals. It merely restricts and bur:pdens honest people who already obey the law and makes it impossible to defend home and family.

If anyone can come up with more ways to be constructively proactive please step forward with suggestions. We cant match the millions of dollars or hope to have the media support the antigun crowd has. But there are things we can do besides wrong our hands and be angry( although it's an understandable reaction). Let's come up with an action plan and discuss what we can do. Information campaigns? Doorbelling and support for progun politicians? Providing Public Service tied to gunowner organization might get us some good PR.? I don't know, but know some of you probably might come up with good ideas that might help. Thanks for taking some time to mull it over
