Sound advice, but he's not throwing his money away by purchasing a gun. Guns are as good as cash, and in many ways, better! At least that's what I tell the old lady :s0114:

I'd throw in a vote for a sks or 4. Prices seem to really be going up on those.
not all guns are liquid assets. In the quite a few gun deals I have made over the years, I have never made money on a gun sale.

Tough call on trying to suggest what someone else should buy!

SKS, as you've mentioned you've had an interest in getting. Thats a no brainer suggestion, as you've mentioned you want one.

As to anything else? If it's for future profit? NO IDEA as far as C&R goes. If it's simply to have without having it on the "roles" of Oregon State Police before you come? Maybe handguns which you may have had an interest in.

As others mention CZ's. CZ50, CZ82 etc.

Likely not to make hardly much in flipping them, or future value return. However honestly who knows?? You might.

But neat simply to have "whatever" because you want it. Without being on a list somewhere...

How about a CMP Correct Grade, this is not a garand someone corrected. I have documentation from CMP stating it is a Correct Grade
I purchased this from CMP in 2006, covered in protective grease. I cleaned it, test fired and put it away
CMP has not had Correct Grades available for mail order for many years, 5 years ago there was a limited number of them for sale at the South Store for $1500. Post War Correct Grades occasionally come up for sale on CMP auction and sell for $2200-$2800 .
I am asking $1800 plus ship/insurance.

Some suggestions- I'd think good to excellent examples can be had for the budget.

M1 Garand. Must have 30-06 love. To keep ammo logistics simple add a 1917 Enfield and a 1903 Springfield to the family.
Colt AR-15 are now on the list. C&R black rifle. Checks many boxes.
FN FAL. Same as above, but bigger.
CZ-82. Cool pistol and actually CC option.
Browning High Power

More collectible/possible investment- Plus Bonus cool points in collection
P08 Luger
C96 Broomhandle Mauser
Colt SAA 1st gen
1873 Winchester rifle

Call me crazy but if I had 2k to spend on guns I'd buy one of the following:
Big Bore revolver such as .454 Casull, 460 S&W,.480 Ruger, or .500 S&W magnum.
Desert Eagle(my father always wanted one) in .44 magnum or .50 Action Express
MP5 or MP5 Clone by a reputable manufacturer such as PTR or H&K.

My PTR MP5 is the best money I've ever spent on a gun, wouldn't hesitate to buy the smaller MP5K size clone.

Title as described gents,

I'll be moving to Bend, OR, my company is offering me a promotion I can't refuse.
So that brings me to my next point, I am a C&R up here in Washington so we can still get most stuff direct.
What should I get before I go?

Things I have had my eyes on it
Czech VZ52 $650 for the quality I want
M1 Garand (probably no dice on this, as CMP would take too long)
CZ 82 $400
?????? Help me spend the last bit so I can get my high off of direct ship freedom sticks before I move.
You'll need raingear. Lots of raingear.

Cool yes but I have no desire to go through a waiting period.

Very nice rifle, a bit too high for me, but totally within reason for the rifle. I'm looking to get a few guns instead of 1.

I guess depends on if you want to reach out and touch someone or something for closer. I would spend it on something that might not be available if the idiots continue to multiply.

What should I get before I go?

A bicycle, some skinny jeans, a snowboard, a man bun, some hipster glasses, and a $2k gift card to Starsucks.
