it never seems to stop.

As Moms gather in Olympia, MoveOn.org launches library gun ban effort

In the wake of yesterday's hearings on several bills containing exemptions to Initiative 594, the Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America (MDA) lobbying group gathered today in Olympia to push for more gun restrictions, while MoveOn.orglaunched a petition drive in an attempt to push the Washington Legislature to change state law and ban firearms in public libraries.

Been there, hit that...

"Wanna guess what happens WAY more often than homicide and/or assault in Wa, and in Seattle particularly? Property crimes, particularly car theft and car prowls, as Denny Westneat should be able to attest to. Local TV news outlets have been very busy lately, pointing out how quickly (as in hours) all of these "low-level" offenders are being released back to continue their "work". Don't leave your pistol locked in the car while you go to the library, etc.

MDA is just asking for this one place, right now, that they just want you to not carry a firearm into "their" library, this time. Remember Starbucks, and every other place that MDA has "boycotted"? They really want to confound your legal carriage of defensive arms in so many places, so often, that you will just give up and leave your best means of defense at home, making it a de facto ban on your carrying any non-LE and non-criminal guns outside of your house.

But don't worry, there is certainly another MDA scheme in the works to fix their problem with your keeping firearms within the walls of your house too.

BTW, looking at their petition, I strongly that they haven't even read RCW 9.41.300!! In particular, I don't see any mention for the "... In addition, the local legislative authority shall provide either a stationary locked box sufficient in size for pistols and key to a weapon owner for weapon storage, or shall designate an official to receive weapons for safekeeping, during the owner's visit to restricted areas of the building" part of the RCW."

My god, will these people just shut up and die already!!!

<- Why there aren't any school shootings in Israel!
Teacher with long gun slung over her shoulder!!!

I didn't realize we had a big shooting problem in library's? I'm sure that someone wanting to commit murder would read the signs and go elsewhere.

"A gun is like a parachute. If you need one and don't have it, you'll probably never need one again!"

Repeating myself: Remind the populace (e.g., by letters to the editors) about MDA's advocacy for murder-by-cop of firearms carriers. Bloombooger's racist gun grabbing plan is fair game, too. Ridicule usually works.

Want to deter this morons from continuing this kind of nonsense? Start a counter-petition to REQUIRE public libraries to make pistols available for checkout. The state treasury can fund the purchase of a wide variety of handguns to be delivered to the libraries.

There's no reasons why I shouldn't be able to check out a .44 magnum along with a book. As long as we are at it, I want a box of ammo to go with the handgun that I check out from the library. Of course, the libraries should encourage the patrons to bring back the empty casings within a 2 week period.

Lest someone think I'm joking, I'm dead serious on this. A counter-proposal of this type would get a heck of a lot of publicity and shock the million moron moms.

WTH goes to libraries these days, except loser-perverts who use the library computers to look at porn?

Thousands of good people visit our public libraries every day … along with a few not-so-good ones with nowhere else to go. Within the last week, my building was visited by a known violent offender, and in an unrelated incident, there was a physical altercation between two patrons. Law enforcement had to be called in both cases.

As usual, banning firearms would only disarm the law-abiding citizens.

Actually, I do a lot of my work (freelance researcher/historical consultant, as long as I have power and WiFi I can set up shop literally anywhere) out of a particular public library, and most of the longtime staff know I carry--in fact, with the number of car prowls and breakins they've had over the years and that rate going up, more than one has asked me to walk her to her car at end-of-shift and even the Branch Manager finds me a reassuring presence.

That's the power of gently and politely Helping People Understand, folks. :)
