We get the reports daily and there is a shooting every day if not more than one in North and NE Portland, Gresham, Troutdale. They actually could stop it but they do not.

Watch now in the near future there will be another tax levy coming down for Police or Jails. They cannot get those passed with putting the fear into the people. The gangs won't stop until the people get fed up enough to make government stop it, or the citizens just do it themselves.

This could have been stopped over 30 years ago.

GANG VIOLENCE INVESTIGATIONS SURPASS PREVIOUS RECORDS - COMMUNITY HELP NEEDED TO STOP THE VIOLENCE (PHOTO)

News Release from Portland Police Bureau
Posted on FlashAlert: September 2nd, 2015 3:40 PMDownloadable file: <broken link removed>
In 2015, the Portland Police Bureau's Gang Enforcement Team (GET) has responded to investigate 121 incidents of gang violence, with the overwhelming majority of these incidents involving gunfire.

This exceeds all previous years in which this type of record has been kept by the Portland Police Bureau, and there are still four months to go in the year. While it is not possible to accurately compare 2015 to the mid-1990s, when gang violence was rampant in the City of Portland, we know that this year communities are experiencing gunfire on a regular basis.

So far this year, officers assigned to the Tactical Operations Division (which includes GET, the Gun Task Force and the multi-jurisdictional Metro Gang Task Force) have seized 137 firearms as evidence in criminal cases. This number is expected to rise and exceed 2014 (139 total) and 2013 (145 total) by year's end.

In the past five years, GET has investigated nearly 600 violent crimes associated to gang activity:

2011 - 103
2012 - 118
2013 - 106
2014 - 109
2015 - 121 (through 09/01/15 - compared to 89, same time, in 2014)

In June of this year, Chief Lawrence P. O'Dea III added six police officers to GET and a non-sworn crime analyst, to assist with the effort to address gang violence.

"Gang officers and detectives are actively working these cases and have made several arrests," said Chief Lawrence P. O'Dea, III. "There are still a number of unsolved shootings and we continue to see a high level of gang activity. We are working with our youth violence prevention partners and we are asking community members to come forward with information as well as support local city and community efforts to prevent gang and gun violence."

The Portland Police Bureau works closely with Enough is Enough PDX, a community-led campaign aimed at encouraging people to take a stand against gang violence in the area.

Why would they expect those figures to rise now that we have UBC in Oregon?

The problem here, and in every city with gang violence has been, and will continue to be, the culture of those that protect thugs. Families and friends protect them. They could be guilty of murder, but lil' pookie is just a po' kid from the hood that is misunderstood, a gentle giant. And you never rat someone out - never.

These folks complain that the police don't do enough, while they cover up crime after crime. Their culture is messed up, and they blame everyone else for their own problems. Until they come to the realization that they are all responsible for allowing the culture of violence to continue, things will never change. Until they stop blaming everyone else for their problems and actually take responsibility for their own actions, things will never change. Until they realize that taking hard work and education seriously can actually get them out of these circumstances, things will never change.

In some respects Hillary's "It takes a village" idea has some merit. During the time of the ancient Hebrews, the law stated that a son guilty of certain crimes was to be stoned at the gate, and all the local fathers were required to participate in the stoning. What this meant was any caring parent realize their ultimate responsibility towards raising, caring for and disciplining their own son so that his untimely death by stoning would never occur.

That's definitely a completely different concept of getting stoned !!!
I'm sorry for that. I apologize, god bless the pigmies.

It is not just the culture of these "disparate" communities. In the 80's as the "drug war" ramped up, LE agencies discovered that the more busts they made (regardless of successful prosecution), the more money and really cool toys were made available by the Fed. This will probably pi$$ some LEO's off but I was there. Instead of locking people up and prosecuting, LE would make strings of arrests, get info, develop CRI's, make deals with DA's for no prosecution, keep seeding the fields of druggies, arresting the CRI's friends, sometimes re-arrest the CRI's, and so it went. It was a numbers game. The rational was always that the drug guys were going after the big fish, cooks, labs, volume dealers, networks...."the big bag". The worse the drug traffic looked the more money and toys came. It was no surprise that a lot of agencies became heavy with militarized equipment. Obviously this has not slowed the drug traffic. We now have National Parks that we can't even use safely because the cartels have moved in. The same game is being played with the Gang thing. The more negative attention the gang kids get, the more status they have, the more action they make, the more money and toys the Gang guys get. Of course I support LE. Of course. But if you know what is happening, and try to get out, or roll on your guys, there is retribution. All of which has led to a terrible backlash of police slayings and has energized the gangs. Just as the LE Gang guys are being funded and supported by the Fed... street folks are being supported by the cartels. One need not dig too deep in YouTube to see the chatter. Stay alert folks. The landscape is about to change.

The ''PO'' is doing this all wrong and wasting Tax Payer money for what ? :s0076: A way to control the guns used by Gangs:s0010: and control the Gang members would be to keep the two problems in a confined area. Then provide each rival Gang member a gun and lots of ammo and let them have a free for all ''Shootout'' :s0017: :s0038: until the last one stands. The last one standing becomes the champion and gets to have at it until he is no longer standing,:s0030: and so on and so forth. Only guns and ammo confiscated from Gang members are to be used, and single action only to conserve ammo. Make the whole event a public broadcast:s0093: and season 1 can be sold as a special edition DVD, with proceeds going back to victims of crime, Tax payers and Schools ! :s0166:

As usual there is not a single background check that will ever stop these.
BGC are only for control and registration and totally against the 2nd Amendment. The only control that needs be in place is criminal control
and that includes those that subvert the Constitution by forcing unconstitutional laws upon everyone else so they can control them..

News Release from Gresham Police Dept

Gresham, Ore. - Gresham resident Kelly Brister IV, 18, is under arrest for recklessly shooting multiple rounds at a group of males in the area of 19100 E. Burnside last night. A bullet struck at least one home in the 600 block of SE 190th Ave. but no person was reportedly hurt in the shooting.

At 10:45 p.m., officers responded to multiple 911 calls from nearby residents who said they heard a group arguing and then four to six gunshots. Officers located and detained Brister who was still in the area, finding him in possession of a pistol that was stolen from Portland in 2006.

Officers with the East Metro Gang Enforcement Team conducted the investigation, learning the initial argument seems to have stemmed from a group of intoxicated men making rude comments to Brister's younger sister when she was walking down the street. The sister went home and told Brister, who confronted the men and ultimately fired the shots.

Brister has been booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Reckless Endangering, Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree, and Theft I.

No additional information is available at this time.

Look at the Max Line and then look at the crime increases over the years since it was built. Stopping the gangs needs to be a serious effort from every county and city and forced by every citizen or it will only grow as it has in LA, Chicago, and every major crime laden urban center. Stopping crime will take SEVERE measures and that is something socialists won't stomach. They are the enablers of gun crime and they perpetuate more and more gun crime by not coming down hard on criminals. It is an endless cycle that only serious citizens that are bent on stopping it can implement. Socialists condone it, Marxists instigate it and Communists cheer the increases in crime and especially gun crimes to further their agenda of disarming us all..
Trying to blame the gun is the lefts tool. The real tools needed must control the criminal and isolate them or eliminate them from society. That is what stops crime. Guns in the hands of good citizens helps stop crime. Thye left does not like that and that is why the laws are being forced upon you more every year.
There is a line of no return if you let it get there you WILL lose your 2nd Amendment. Washington and Oregon have felt the sting of the left this past year. Anti Gun laws will not stop unless you stop them. Crime will not stop unless you force a stop to it.
