Modifying/Upgrading 1911 - Tips?

You're just having fun past regular spring maintenance and the barrel...
Grips are always a good place to start, and more often than not are all you need.

I would recommend avoiding modifications to the hammer, sear and grip safety unless you know what you are doing.

Having a 1911 do a full auto mag dump is pretty scary...

FYI...Larry Vickers offers a 5 day 1911 gunsmithing class from time to time and I hear it's excellent. I believe you basically build a 1911 during those five days. It's the last item on the page there is no date yet.
