Yeah its been sportized. Now days some collectors are starting to value. Serial number says it was made in 1897...

This has a production date in first qtr of 1901 with 41,471 rifles made and 20,620 carbines made that year. Image is from The Krag Book by Mallory & Olson. Serials are at beginning of year.. No Krag would date earlier than year on the reciever.
