Model 1200 fail to feed

I have an older model 1200 winchester that won't feed 3" shells. The carrier will not pick the shell up high enough to enter the chamber as the bolt pushes it foreward. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

How old is your 1200?
My old one will only shoot 2 3/4" shells.

They did make a 1200 Magnum that would take 3", but just plain old 1200's
were 2 3/4". Which do you have?

It is the 3" mag. I did completey disassemble and clean the trigger assy, including the carrier plunger and spring. It is just not lifting the new shell high enough to clear the bottom of the chamber, very frusterating.

Magazine spring weak? Perhaps not enough umph to shove the 3" shell back hard/fast/far enough on the carrier before the works start forward?

It is pretty old, seriel # is in the 500,000's

What you may have is a 1300 (3") barrel on your old 1200.
Barrel fits fine, but the gun will still be limited to 2-3/4" shells.
