I have a Mauser that was my Grandfathers. It has BYF 44 stamped on the top of the gun and mod. 98 on the side of the reciever... It also has two or 3 stamps on it that are obvious Nazi markings. The the hawk or eagle, whatever it is, and the Swastika kind of are a give away that maybe it was a WWII gun. Does anyone know anything about this particular weapon?
BYF = Mauser, Oberndorf 1941-45. 44 indicates the year of manufacture. Find out more here: http://www.mausercentral.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11338 Or you can start at the beginning, the index page: http://www.mausercentral.com/forum/index.php
