MINI-14 , 196 series,,, need help

The Ranch Rifle has scope bases cast into the receiver. The regular Mini-14 has to have a special made after-market base in order to install a scope. I hope this helps.

Yep that is true. I even got the scope mounts for it when I bought it. Very easy assembly. I just don't opt for it. It is just me.

Well I already knew that but thanks, if you read my earlier posts you'll see that the confusion is coming from the fact that according to the ser# this should be a ranch rifle
